For the love of God, if you are going to have a treat, enjoy every freakin’ bite. Look at it when you eat it. Eat slowly. Don’t unconsciously shovel it into your mouth. And don’t consider it “falling off the wagon.” Just because you ate something that isn’t paleo, doesn’t mean you are no longer paleo. It’s all about what you do over the long haul, not something you did last Wednesday, that is going to determine your health.
I also want to say thank you for giving me the impetus to DO something. So often I read a diet book or a blog and think “yah, I should do that. Sounds hard though. Who am I kidding? I’ll never do that.” But what Tim is describing makes me think “That I could do.”
Everything you said is amazing but whats happening to me isn’t mentioned here. And my situation seems really weird. I’m doing the paleo and i go to the gym 4-5 times a week(weight lifting and cardio each time) and i lost 5 kg the first week which was mentioned up there and then 3 weeks have passed without any weight loss and on the 5th day of the 4th week i desided to make 3 cheat days before going detox (a coach at the gym said the solution was to go detox for a week) and on the third day’s (3rd day of cheating) morning i woke up with 2 kg gone. Just like this. (I go up on the scale each morning after hitting the bathroom, sorry for the extra info ). Can you please explain this to me and tell me what i should do… Thanks in advance…
I don’t know if I am not drinking enough water or I am just plain insulin resistant or if my thyroid needs to be increased as it was on the low side of normal. I am very frustrated. I may also be holding salt weight though I don’t salt my foods, but I know some things have 20% sodium content. I try to avoid those foods as well.

I’ve been intrigued by the Roberts/Guyenet approach, but honestly what they are suggesting sounds like punishment. it’s one thing to eat simply, but no salt on your meat? Getting your fat from plain MCT oil? Going this far to reduce palatability sounds really depressing and reminds me of how I used to treat myself when I had a severe eating disorder many years ago. Are you able to still feel joy and delight in life while eating like this? Because if not, I don’t think it’s healthy regardless of whether you lose weight. I’m curious about your experience though, so thanks for posting.

Of course, as the years went on, I found that Paleo was great for way more than just weight loss, but since so many people want to know the secret of losing weight, I thought I’d share my 5 tips for losing weight on a Paleo diet in this article.
All vegetables. Eat until you are full with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup and a baked potato at dinner time with butter. Don’t eat any fruits through today.

I forgot to mention above^^: When I was on my old diet of having a cheat meal once a week, I did not have my period for about 7 months. Now that I am refeeding instead, my period has returned to normal.
