I’m really lucky that both my parents and my husband’s parents have switched to a primal diet. They all ate real whole foods before the switch, so it wasn’t too hard for them. Learning that those “healthy whole grains” they had been eating weren’t so healthy after all was really the only thing they had to contend with. They all respect our dietary choices, which is something that I’m coming to realize I’m incredibly lucky to have. Until now, we’ve been skipping things like birthday parties, but the kids are at an age now where we don’t want to do that anymore. However, if I say that I have a raging wheat allergy, they will make sure to clean the grill before cooking my meat. We also pack a lot of food to take with us on occasions such as these. It’s cheaper and the boys enjoy having a picnic much more than going to a restaurant.

If you care about your child’s health, you won’t pressure him or her to lose weight quickly. Fast weight loss methods are rarely healthy. Instead, encourage your child to eat more fruits, veggies, lean meats, and whole grains, and get him outside to exercise more.

I am so glad I found this post because there are two camps of Paleo people. There are the fit althetic folks and Obese ones. The fact of the matter is that if your an obese female like myself, you got that way by eating more than your body needs. I like to eat large hearty portions of food. I binge eat. So of course I am going to be attracted to a diet that tells me I can eat ALL I WANT, that I don’t have to count calories and that the weight is going to melt off! Eat those steaks drowned in butter! Eat 3 avocados a day! Fry those eggs in coconut oil! Bacon with EVERYTHING!

In the last few weeks, I’ve only snacked on veggies. However, in the past I have had a few tablespoons of almond butter or some cottage cheese. I wasn’t losing weight with these foods, but removing them gave me no results, either.
