I really need to change my eating habits the problem I won’t eat 95% of the food on this list. I don’t eat a lot of veggies and I don’t eat fish at all. @RobinH- I’m combining them due to my difficulty in weight loss. Seth Roberts actually says things like he can counter the effects of eating chocolate by taking more oil later. I am not miserable, but I have been pretty darn miserable doing things like JennyCraig in the early 90s when people were dropping with gallbladder attacks. I, at least, had the sense to quit that diet when my hair fell out at an alarming rate.

Overeating causes biological stress through inflammation due to the excess production of free radicals and what are known as reactive oxygen species that cause cell damage and an inflammatory response. The second reason for elevated inflammation is Advanced Glycation End products (AGE’s) these are the result of uncontrolled reactions between sugars and fats (sugars and amino acids as well but to a lesser degree). Fructose is 7 to 10 times more likely to cause these reactions than glucose, and polyunsaturated fats (much less stable fats) are much more likely to be subjected to these reactions than saturated fats.
Yeah, that does seem rather aggressive, although the math works pretty good. 180 days at a 900 cal deficit divided by the standard 3300 cals per pound lost equals 49 pounds. For good measure I’m throwing in cutting out beer drinking which accounts for an additional 3500 cals a week minimum.

The key to doing so is just being sure to eat when you feel hungry. Don’t starve yourself. Don’t make yourself wait on purpose. Don’t give yourself a set number (say, 1500) of calories to eat in a day. Don’t even give yourself a set amount of food. Energy needs vary day by day. If you feel like you need to eat more, do it.

The the sugar in the paleo diet doesnt matter if you keep it under control. Just know what your macros are in the foods your eating and you can keep the sugars. Anything in excess will cause weight gain. Like tje articles says, even excess healthy food will make you gain weight.
