But I hate weighing 220 lbs even more, so that’s my motivation. And I love reaching my goal of 190 lbs just before the summer. But that’s me and whatever each one of us has for motivation, we probably have the same reasons and goals.
I just started a couple of weeks ago to start living a healthier lifestyle and as an added bonus I have already lost a total of 8 lbs so far. Really feeling better and majority of the foods are amazing! I’m not a big fan of kale but I’m adjusting. It does take some time to prepare but it’s all worth it in the end to live a healthier lifestyle.
My concern now is I stopped taking the PGX and had a few cheats such as paleo dessert a couple weeks ago when I hosted a party, and last week I had more fruit than normal…I also increased my exercise. Day 46- I now am only at a 3 pound loss and weigh 132.4 lbs. I just don’t understand why I have gained 4.4 pounds back? It is all very frustrating to me. I stick to eating meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, minimal fruit…
Portion out seeds, nuts, and nut butters. Nuts, by nature, are high in fats, which contain more than double the calories per gram than carbohydrates or protein. But they’re also highly snackable, it can be easy to lose track of portions. If you eat a lot of nuts, trail mix, or nut butters, consider portioning these high-calorie foods into individual servings ahead of time.
Exercise provides positive health benefits including: building muscle, decreasing cholesterol/blood pressure, increasing bone density and fighting off depression. Starvation diets are harsh on your health and do not deliver long lasting or desirable results.
I still use dairy in moderation. This means cream with my coffee and little amounts of cheese with some of my meals. For instance, if I make eggs and veggies, I might throw a little cheddar in the mix.
Thank you for this post. I typically do a modified paleo and do okay- ie I eat some raw milk cheese and those KIND bars. Recently while traveling I ballooned and had to be at a wedding and was surprised when my dress was too tight. I’d had two KIND bars 2 days in a row (4 total) Angry and frustrated as you can imagine esp since I struggle with my weight I often feel like giving up this paleo- any carbs and I balloon. But I feel better overall and want to keep doing it, I do need to find better travel solutions. Any suggestions would be great. I try to eat organic grass fed meats but I also had to eat sausage and eggs from McDonald’s at the airport one day. You just never know what hidden sugars are in these foods. Let me know what people do for Paleo when you’re traveling and can’t eat at a proper restaraunt let alone prep your own foods. Thanks
I’d double check the carb content on that Muscle Milk. It looks like it has about 10 grams of carbs per serving (not counting fiber). That’s 30 grams per day you probably don’t need on this diet, but depending on your goals, it shouldn’t be a big deal.
This is my third day doing the diet. I already steered away from grains. It’s artificial sweetners and dairy that I am trying to get used to not being in my diet anymore. I do find though that I am smacking a lot on almonds and cashews. Any other snacking ideas? Is doing this going to make me gain weight? I have a lot of muscle and about 5 lbs that I would like to lose. Ultimately, the go would be for in about 9 days, but I’m not sure I’d that is possible bc I am only 5’2 and in great shape, just losing isn’t something my body does often. All suggestions are welcomed, please! Even a couple lbs in 9 days. I’m in a wedding, help!
Radu Bercan/ShutterstockCandy wrappers, fruit peels, nut shells, chicken bones: When it comes to eating messy food, it may be better to let the garbage pile up on the table rather than demurely throwing it away as you go. Seeing the debris left from your food is a visual reminder of exactly how much you’ve eaten and can provide a reminder to stop when you’re full, according to research done by the Cornell Food and Brand Lab. Don’t miss these weight-loss tips thats nutritionists swear by.
Give your brown rice a nice savory spin by adding freshly minced garlic. At the last minute, add in fresh herbs like thyme and Italian parsley and just about any vegetable you have on hand, like chopped cucumbers, celery, onions, and tomatoes.
If you’re not mindful about eating, it’s easy to overdo it on dried fruits which pack in a ton of concentrated sugar or paleo bliss balls. These things have their time and place, and they’re certainly better for you than regular sweet treats. Alas, they’re not doing much for your weight loss goals in the long-run. Think about how much you’re snacking and try to cut back by filling up on healthy, nutrient-dense foods during meal times. Save the treats for special occasions instead of making them an everyday habit.
Along with eating a nutrient-dense Paleo diet, exercise is key component to optimal health. Weight loss is more complex than calories in versus calories out, but the right type and amount of exercise does have an impact by increasing your metabolic rate and improving your overall hormonal environment. Too little exercise can result in weight loss stagnation, but too much exercise is harmful because the body views it as a chronic stressor. Like any other chronic stressor, too much exercise can lead to elevated cortisol levels and inhibition of weight loss. Although every individual requires a unique exercise prescription based on their fitness level and goals, a combination of weightlifting, low intensity exercise, such as walking, and a small amount of high intensity interval training is typically ideal for weight loss efforts. Chronic endurance exercise, such as running or biking for sustained periods of time, is likely to compromise weight loss and contribute to the development of health issues.
Try to squeeze in a 30-minute walk daily, Lyons says. The simple boost in metabolism will help you burn waistline fat more efficiently. And if you want to work out, skip those gadgets that promise “miraculous abs in minutes.” A study from Kansas State University found most devices designed to target abs (think infomercials) don’t live up to their promises. You’ll see better results with traditional exercise.
Please take this into consideration. I began Paleo and was eating very good however, I could not lose weight for nothing. I soon found out I had 20 food sensitivities or allergies, when I stop eating those foods the weight fell off, the bloating disappeared and I felt much better.
For greater slimming potential, purchase them unshelled: the process of removing the shells will force you to eat more slowly, giving your brain additional time to determine whether or not you’re still hungry.

There are many different ways to increase your movement throughout the day, and I outline several of them in my article about the dangers of sitting excessively. Getting into the habit of moving throughout the day can not only benefit your weight and promote fat loss, but it can also improve your overall health and reduce your risk for chronic disease.
“Dinner would be a huge hunk of meat with potatoes and some vegetables. I had a real problem with portion control. That’s all changed now. I use a side plate for all my meals and I still feel satisfied.
Encourage social gatherings that are a bit more active. Frisbee, golf, swimming, or a simple picnic in the park with friends are activities that will get you moving (and get you fresh air). If weather is an issue, do something indoors like dancing.
Sounds great, but eating the same 3-4 meals cycle after cycle is going to get BORING! Also, what do you have to say about the idea that men’s metabolic rates generally allow them to lose weight faster/easier? Thanks.
