This happened three times this week, usually at breakfast or dinner. I use coconut oil per day so could that be inducing ketosis and physiological insulin resistance? I have low FBG so that wouldn’t make much sense. I’m worried with this random spikes and I can’t think of any plausible reason why this happens…

My husband and I started “paleo” as an 8 week challenge with my crossfit gym. That was over 18 months ago. Love the energy and sense of wellness from eating this way. Planning ahead is the key. Cooking in large batches and freezing the extra is a life saver. Enjoy!

A body of research out of Pennsylvania State University finds that eating water-rich foods such as zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers during meals reduces your overall calorie consumption. I think it’s great that you are committing to the paleo for bettering you and your family’s health. We are also just starting this journey. We have an 80/20 lifestyle right now for no processed foods, which I thought was a good step towards health but decided the paleo lifestyle, after a bunch of reading, was actually way healthier. The downer for us is dairy……we are committed to doing the paleo on an 80/20 scale also. We will do paleo 80% of the time and the no processed foods the other 20%. I really like your point about addressing your whole life for weight loss. I lost 50 pounds and have kept it off for almost 8 years, and a big part of that was beginning to heal my emotions. Deeply depressed and anxious when I gained the weight, I wasn’t able to lose weight until I started loving myself just a *tiny* bit. Then I could begin caring for my body with kindness. Counseling helped back then, but now I practice many more tools like mindfulness, meditation, and tapping that could have sped up the process further.

So, I’m all on my own trying to be Paleo in the best way I possibly can be, and I think the hardest part will not be giving up things like cheese, but instead switching my bologna (yuck) addicted wannabe walking heart attack high cholesterol husband of 5 yrs.

I am60 years old- have had a weight problem all my life. I have been on Paleo for the past three months and lost 18 lbs. I am now at the same weight for the last month- up, down, up , down, and I am really getting upset. Every day I expect a big drop on the scale, but its just not there. What am I doing wrong?
