I have to ask (and am surprised after 63 posts nobody has yet) but if we can at least agree that weight loss is primarily an equation of calories in versus calories spent, (we can, right?) why isn’t there a limit on the number of calories one should limit themselves to? Is it because it’s expected you can’t eat beyond the limit of the calories you need to lose weight when you’re eating 10 cups of spinach to match that old 1/2 cup of rice?
I am exactly the same Louise, I wish I can stop at just one cookie or a small handful of nuts 🙁 They are absolutely delicious and I am also small built but definitely know it when I put on some weight (easily) Thanks for the tips above, I think food control is really important and I am still trying to find a way to not over-eat on unhealthy or calorie dense food especially dried fruits and nuts (and I eat alot of coconut) I can go through a can of coconut milk a day. Do you reckon that is too much?

I know we existed as a species 150,000 years ago, I know the agricultural revolution didn’t happen until 10,000 years ago, which means we had 140,000 years without grains. In that time we learned to thrive as a species without grains (or else we wouldn’t be here).
Despite this foolishness about not needing to count calories on paleo, you need to cut your calories in order to lose those last few pounds. counting calories only works for someone who’s really overweight and that’s only because going paleo automatically puts them in a caloric deficit. Don’t believe a lot of the Paleo hype, count your calories and go into a caloric deficit if you’re trying to lose weight.
Drinking plenty of water is something recommended by doctors and health practitioners to keep you hydrated. The other benefit of drinking ice-cold water is that it increases the metabolic rate, which contributes to weight loss as well as gives you a feeling of fullness if drank before a meal.
Satiety comes from protein. Anybody who cant loose weight wile paleo should swap high fat meat to low fat/high protein. Chris’s new book,the personal paleo code will help to figure out these things so pls grab a copy. I did and highly recommend it.
If you’re on a 1200 calorie diet, don’t go below that number, and once a week when you “pig out” you don’t want to do more than 2000 calories because to lose 1 lb of fat a week, you need to cut down 3500 calories from your normal diet if you really eat like 10 sandwiches or something, you will not only not lose weight, but the whole week of dieting will be ruined. It is very important while dieting to move your body. Dance to 3-5 fast pace songs every day, you can do it while you cook, clean, do dishes or laundry. Doing something you like while doing your normal chores will eliminate the excuse “I have no time to exercise”. I have 4 kids, and have lost a combined total of 150 lbs by eating right and dancing while I work around the house.
Plain and simple: We just don’t feel full by liquid calories in quite the same way as we do real food. Drinking a juice or caramel coffee drink, for instance, won’t make you feel full the way eating a bowl of veggie- and protein-packed stir-fry will. So monitor your intake of juice, soda, sweetened coffee and tea, and alcoholic beverages. If you consume each of those beverages during the day, you’ll have taken in at least 800 extra calories by nighttime — and you’ll still be hungry.
