The the sugar in the paleo diet doesnt matter if you keep it under control. Just know what your macros are in the foods your eating and you can keep the sugars. Anything in excess will cause weight gain. Like tje articles says, even excess healthy food will make you gain weight.

And good GRIEF stop trying to zero carb yourself into weight loss. I am exhausted reading about this. It is not going to work. It may for a while, then you will start to wonder what is wrong when it doesn’t work anymore and you feel awful. If you really want or need to do low carb, watch Phinney and Volek’s youtube video to be sure you haven’t missed all the important points in the book. A low carb diet should have plenty of vegetables, some low carb fruit, a little omega 3, some salted bone broth….unless you are living like, say, an Inuit eating the whole animal (yep, all of it, organs and all, some of it too…) you should not be eating just meat and fat!
No offense but I always get a kick out of Vegans and Vegetarians that say Paleo is too restrictive. To me, a ‘meat-eater’, the vegetarian/vegan diet seems highly restrictive, much more so than athe Paleo diet. If you’re a Vegetarian and the Paleo diet doesn’t work for you, then you don’t have to eat that way – no one said we all have to eat the same way!
In other words? Don’t assume a plateau means it’s time to eat fewer calories. Instead, consider the bigger picture to identify any and all contributing factors. And be open to the fact that your body might be happy right where it is—even if you were hoping to drop another five pounds.
I am a 60 year old woman, who is in good health, but I’m 20 to 30 pounds overweight:/ About 2 weeks ago my husband and I began a 6 week crossfit boot camp, which we go to for one hour three times a week, and began a Paleo diet. We are really enjoying both. I lost 5 pounds the first week, and have gained back about 1/2 pound in the second week, although I have changed nothing about my exercise or diet. Help!!
Have protein snacks available. I keep Cheddar cheese, cooked chicken cut into bite size pieces, hard boiled eggs, nuts (not that many of these though) celery with sugar free peanut butter. in my fridge ready to grab. Keep going you will get there.

The baked potato is needed for your potassium and the taste is quite welcomed. There’s a reason why you don’t eat bananas on day 2 for your potassium, because bananas have more calories than a potato. Leave the scale alone!
