If you really want drive yourself mad, go read a mainstream article that’s either pro or against the Paleo Diet. In the comments, you’ll find a bunch of dietitians yelling back and forth at each other citing different studies and sources and then calling each other wackjobs.

Slow and steady wins the race.  Losing weight too fast can take a toll on your mind and body, making you feel sluggish, drained, and sick. Aim to lose one to two pounds a week so you’re losing fat rather than water and muscle.

Weigh yourself once or twice a week. Monitoring your progress is important when you’re losing weight. Stepping on the scale regularly can help you see how effective your diet program is going and whether or not you need to make any changes.

I only need to lose about 2 very stubborn kgs. It seem’s so much harder to lose a small amount of weight. I drink only 2 glasses bubbles on the weekend, I don’t have sugar, dairy or any grains in my diet, I exercise 4-5 days a week and am quite active. I’d love some advice. Thanks

Kali – I wish I could give you a straight answer to this question, but it’s impossible to know how much weight you’ll lose without knowing exactly what you’re eating and how active you are (more details would be required to know this). Plus, you have to consider carbs, protein, how often you’re eating, if you’re cheating and how often, whether or not you have food sensitivities to things you’re still eating, how much you’re sleeping, how much caffeine you’re drinking, if you’re on any medications, and if you have any underyling hormonal issues (thyroid, estrogen, adrenals, etc), which could all affect your weight loss goals. If you’d like to set up a call with me, please email me at neely@paleoplan.com. As you can see, there’s a lot that goes into this 🙂

Spiced Apples Baked in Brandy – A sweet and spicy dessert infused with the flavor of brandy, but without the alcohol. It works nicely as a finisher to the meal described above, and is also a great dessert to serve up to impress your friends. You don’t even have to mention you’re doing the Paleo diet, as this is a dessert that no one will suspect is diet food.

Exercise increases appetite, and most people just make up for whatever they exercised off. There’s a lot of wonderful reasons to exercise and I always suggest it to people who are trying to lose weight—some sort of exercise regimen keeps them focused on their health and doing what is good for them, and it’s psychologically healthy. But in and of itself it won’t usually help people lose weight.

So, when you eat the negative calorie foods like apple, citrus fruits, celeries, cucumbers etc. your body is required to put in some energy from its inert stores to digest these foods. As a result, instead of giving your body the calories, these foods, instead, consume them.

RobinH – plain paleo foods are not tasteless. Our pallets have been altered. There isn’t anything wrong with eating ordinary food. People are looking for help in losing weight. I think the entertainment value of food is not the topic here.

It’s a matter of the quantity, when it’s eaten, and with what it is eaten. Consuming fructose or sucrose will encourage the secretion of insulin at times this is very good, however when trying to lose weight there are times in which this is not desired.

According to Well Being Journal Jan/Feb 2013, pg 4 an article titled Diabetes, Fats, and Carbohydrates, the sidebar article states “A healthy amount of good (saturated and olive oil) in a daily regimen of 2,000 calories would consist of at least eight tablespoons of these fats in order for you to get JUST HALF (caps mine) of your calories from fats. One tablespoon of coconut oil or other healthy fat generally equals about 130 calories”.

They should help keep you from feeling deprived and bingeing on higher-calorie foods. For instance: honey has just 64 fat-releasing calories in one tablespoon. Eggs have just 70 calories in one hard-boiled egg, loaded with fat-releasing protein. Part-skim ricotta cheese has just 39 calories in one ounce, packed with fat-releasing calcium. Dark chocolate has about 168 calories in a one-ounce square, but it’s packed with fat releasers. And a University of Tennessee study found that people who cut 500 calories a day and ate yogurt three times a day for 12 weeks lost more weight and body fat than a group that only cut the calories. The researchers concluded that the calcium in low-fat dairy foods triggers a hormonal response that inhibits the body’s production of fat cells and boosts the breakdown of fat. Add these other fat-burning foods to your diet, too.

They say that low-fat weight-loss diets have proved in clinical trials and real life to be dismal failures, and that on top of it all, the percentage of fat in the American diet has been decreasing for two decades. Our cholesterol levels have been declining, and we have been smoking less, and yet the incidence of heart disease has not declined as would be expected. ”That is very disconcerting,” Willett says. ”It suggests that something else bad is happening.”

But can you still eat meat in the same way we prepare it now? Like for steak as in, with salt, pepper, garlic, etc.? Obviously no breadcrumbs for chicken, but what is really the way you prepare your food?

You know the drill when it comes to losing weight: take in fewer calories, burn more calories. But you also know that most diets and quick weight-loss plans don’t work as promised. If you’re trying to drop a few pounds fast, these trusted expert tips will make it easy for you to lose the weight quickly.

1. Take yourself off cruise control. Increase the intensity of your everyday tasks, from vacuuming to walking the dog, recommends Douglas Brooks, an exercise physiologist and personal trainer in Northern, CA. “Turn on some music, add in some vigorous bursts, and enjoy the movement,” he says.

Those core 10% I have always viewed as having internal medical problems like thyroid, metabolism etc. They get brainwashed also with the lies. They also make their problems worse with processed foods.

Serve three vegetables with dinner tonight, instead of just one, and you’ll eat more without really trying. Greater variety tricks people into eating more food — and eating more fruits and vegetables is a great way to lose weight. The high fiber and water content fills you up with fewer calories. Cook them without added fat. And season with lemon juice and herbs rather than drowning their goodness in high-fat sauces or dressings.

3.  Manage Stress:  Do whatever you can to keep your stress level in check.  This is about the stress hormone cortisol, which profoundly affects the ease at which our bodies access stored energy, how we metabolize fat versus sugar, our insulin sensitivity and our leptin (hunger hormone) sensitivity.  See How Stress Undermines Health.

The ingredient in Green Coffee Extract has been featured on many TV shows. It has been proven to be one of the best diet pills that work fast without exercise. This product is also under the approval of FDA for the manufacturing facilities. And as this pill has only one ingredient, the weight loss power focuses on fat burning and maintain a high level of energy for your body.

I am finding the Paleo diet not too hard of a transition, despite my food allergy to peppers. Don’t ask, I break out in hives just by touching a bell pepper crazy I know. I also find myself excited to do this. We are taking the next 5 days to clear the house of junk and restart on the first of the month.

This is crucial. Weight loss is not about willpower. Diets based on willpower fail. You cannot lose weight by fighting your body. You might win the battle, but your body will always win the war. You can only lose weight by removing the need to fight your body.
