Plan Ahead: Make the Maple-Nut Granola for tomorrow. You can also buy granola, to make things easier. Aim for a granola that has around 130 calories or less and less than 6 grams of sugar per 1/4 cup.
Why try and pretend that Paleo is very easy for everyone? Some people are vegetarian and eat a lot of bread. This diet would be a nightmare for them. Be honest. Paleo is very restrictive, unless your diet already revolves around meat and little else.
I’ll cover that more below too, as it’s one of the pitfalls to avoid with successfully going paleo. If you’re worried about adherence to the diet, I understand – it’s the toughest part of Paleo – sticking with it!

I think that eating until your stuffed is never a good idea. It not only stressed the stomach but causes an UN-necessary caloric load. Besides, once you stabilize your blood sugars, you shouldn’t feel a need to eat all the time, and to eat massive amounts of food.
This trick requires nothing more than a stroll over to the thermostat. Turn the heater down a few degrees and you’ll activate a type of body fat that actually burns calories. While adults have mostly white fat, as infants we had primarily brown fat. In recent years, researchers have come to realize that brown fat actually burns calories to help generate heat. A recent trial published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism reports that when we’re exposed to cooler temperatures, some of our inert stores of white fat convert to a darker, beige color and begin burning calories. You don’t have to live in a freezer, either: A British study from 2012 suggests that lowering the thermostat by just two to four degrees—aim for the mid to high 60s—can trigger the fat conversion.
i was clicking my ‘stumbleupon’ button and came across this. i’ve been looking to lose some weight, and trying. once i read this, and because i hadn’t eaten in a few hours, i quickly made myself some chicken, pinto beans, and vegetables. this is the exact diet i was looking for. i’ve never been much of a breakfast food person, so i have no problem substituting the typical american breakfast foods. but one question….are canned foods alright?
Although you might know that eating certain foods can increase your heart disease risk, it’s often tough to change your eating habits. Whether you have years of unhealthy eating under your belt or you simply want to fine-tune your diet, here are eight heart-healthy diet tips. Once you know foods to eat more of and which foods to limit, you’ll be on your way toward a heart-healthy diet.
For the last six weeks I’ve been challenging and significantly reducing my portions. I’ve not been weighing and counting calories, nor have I changed what I eat. I’ve simply been eating a lot less. For example, where I’d have had three serving spoons of soup or bean’-less chilli, I now have two – and I don’t have seconds. Where I’d have had three rashers of bacon and two eggs, I now have two rashers of bacon and one egg. When I Intermittently Fast, I’m careful not to expand the size of my first post-fast meal to compensate.
“Cardiac diet” is an unofficial term for a heart healthy diet. This is a plan to eat plenty of nutrient-rich foods—fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean poultry and fish. And it also means avoiding saturated fats, trans fats, and excess sodium and sugar.

The ketogenic diet focuses on manipulating the three macronutrients, which are fat, carbs and protein for those keeping score. The Paleo diet is more about the food choices. You eliminate dairy, grains and processed foods, but balance the macronutrients any way you want.
There are many studies that show major benefits of moderate alcohol consumption. That is why many people on Paleo still drink. I think we all know that heavy drinking is a problem, but no one knows exactly how much is too much. I’m sure it depends on a lot of factors that are different for everyone. It is hard to find that balance, for sure, but for many of us, giving up alcohol almost entirely doesn’t feel like the best or healthiest option. Stress may be worse for you than a little too much booze, so for some lifestyles sharing a bottle of wine in the evening might be the least of two evils. It’s really hard to say.
I think your results are very telling on their own – don’t you? But if you want more information, here’s a pdf you might like. http://www.jpands.org/vol10no3/colpo.pdf. This article talks about how they’ve shown that the plaques that break off and cause cardiovascular events are made of omega 6 oils mostly – not saturated fat or cholesterol. It’s a myth that saturated fat and cholesterol – the things we evolved eating and the things our body needs to survive – cause heart disease. Chris Masterjohn is the expert on this, and I suggest you read all his stuff here. He’ll link you to plenty more studies.
One study found that increasing protein intake from 15% to 30% of calories helped participants eat 441 fewer calories per day and lose 11 pounds in 12 weeks, without intentionally restricting anything (9).
Serve yourself smaller portions. Use small plates, bowls, and cups to make your portions appear larger. Don’t eat out of large bowls or directly from food containers, which makes it difficult to assess how much you’ve eaten.
Is weight loss on your to-do list? If so, you’ve probably considered going on a diet, starting an exercise program or even paying for a commercial weight loss program. And those strategies can work. But did you also know that you can lose weight without dieting? It sounds too good to be true, but a recent study found that some people are able to slim down by making small changes to their daily habits.
