Hi, I am an Inn Keeper and love different foods for breakfast. I eat all of the things you talk about in this diet, AND sometimes serve breakfasts just like this. I was wondering, you say not to drink your calories. I can’t eat much dairy, but crave soy milk. Can I have soy milk on this diet? I don’t drink sodas or tea. Coffee once in a while. Soy milk is like a snack to me, so I would hate to give it up.

Your opinion on this topic is,weak and a lite disheartening. This is a very useful diet.I did it for a month, lost 40Lbs, cleansed my body and no, I didn’t gain it back. It’s not just Water loss…IT’S Clean Healthy eating.

Have you ever tried quinoa? This is a seed from south america that was a staple food of the Incans. It is a pretty good slow carb food. Also steel cut oats with some kind of protein powder might suit this purpose for breakfast.

Start a calorie journal in which you write down the values of everything you eat. Creating a calorie journal and writing in it consistently will help you know when you’ve gone over your limit. It will tell you what foods worked when and whether they tasted good. It will give you a record of your struggles, which are always fun to look back on after the pain has passed!

So it’s probably quite clear now, that I have very little knowledge of the science behind my diet and exercise plan, but I do know that it works for me, and I hope it helps some of you to achieve some good results!

So far actually enjoying the diet. Need to know the minimum amount of food I can eat in the am. I have a lapband and mornings seem to be the most difficult time to eat. Even at lunch it seems that the veggies literally take up too much room, leaving less room in stomach for the proteins. If I vitamins, how important are veggies at every single meal. At breakfast i do well to just get the volume of 1 egg down, no way I can get legumes and veggies down w/ the egg, lunch is a little better and dinner is usually good, volume wise. Any suggestions.

Yes, I have tried this diet. While the food combination are unusual it worked. My first week I lost 6 lbs. I chose to do the diet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & sometimes I repeated day 1 for Thursday.

Interesting read. Having struggled to lose weight (on Paleo) for a number of years I think it is a far more complicated issue. I’ve just started my journey, but a big part of my issue is in my blood test results…

I’ve been losing weight very slowly (I’m about a month into this new way of eating and it’s been 11 lbs.) but I know at my age (47) it’s a bit trickier to do so because of hormonal issues and the like. Last week I ate a bit more sweets and almonds and the scale went up about a pound and a half. I also have issues with water retention so I’m dialing down the sugar and almonds this week and drinking some fennel tea which seems to do the trick regarding the water issues. The incredible piece here is that this diet actually seems to treat epilepsy very well, but there is a catch; it’s incredibly difficult to tolerate. According to WebMd, the diet prescribes that dieters to consume three calories of fat for every calorie of protein or carbohydrate. That’s a lot of fat. WebMd explains:

Oh and I know the main problem of this type of diet is price. What I did was live off canned spinach like popeye and other dark leafy greens, eg asparagus. I have a steel belly so I ate they cold from the can but there are also fantastic recipes w canned veggies. I know its not natural and cavemen cant operate can openers or whatever, but as a college student, it worked for me. I also ate bologne. You also eat less quantities because meat and fat is more filling anyway.

Wow, there is not a single recipe on here that doesn’t look good. I am so excited to have found this site! Hubs and I are trying to eat more natural, and so far every dinner for 2015 has been grain-free (or mostly grain-free). These meals make me want to keep it up…I always thought Paleo was difficult and super-expensive. These meals look do-able and relatively normal. Thanks so much! 🙂

However, farmers’ markets often have well-priced meats, eggs, fruits, and vegetables that are locally grown and incredibly healthy.  Even if you’re spending a little more money than before, when you factor in your overall health, spending a few extra bucks on healthier food now is a wiser investment than thousands later on costly medical expenses.

I am on the waiting list for your book at my library. I am gluten, lactose, refined sugar and potato intolerant according to tests my naturopathic doctor did after presenting with fibromyalgia and chronic insomnia. I did a Whole 30 two years ago and gave up gluten and dairy 100%, as well as refined sugar and potatoes. I eat rice occasionally and corn tortillas occasionally too (like twice a month). Otherwise I eat meat, veggies, fruit, coconut products, some nuts, olives, avocados. I also do HIIT twice a week. I have not lost any weight. It’s amazing and I don’t understand it. I eat better than anyone I know and yet I cannot seem to lose weight ever, even on the Whole 30! However, I no longer present with chronic pain, my sleep has improved, and overall I feel better. I look forward to reading the rest of your articles because I’m stumped and frustrated. Thanks!

His claim of “some decrease in narrowing of arteries (stenosis) was also found in various medical treatments and other diets of various kinds. “Some” is usually just “small” reduction in stenosis and has often been at the very edge of experimental resolution and occurs in “some” participants.

I went Paleo back in 2012 lost 60 lbs kept it off for over a year. Started eating a little here a little there until 25 lbs has crept back on. I started paleo again the week after Christmas and this time it seems really hard. I have only lost 6lbs in the last 2 months. Some of my clothes fit better but not a huge difference for anyone to notice. I am doing everything I did the first time. I am even exercising more now and doing a few weights at least 3 times a week. I am getting very discouraged. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  1. I really need to change my eating habits the problem I won’t eat 95% of the food on this list. I don’t eat a lot of veggies and I don’t eat fish at all. I’m not sure there is a diet that would really work for me. This diet sounds like it helps with pain and inflammation which 8 have a lot of. Do you have any recommendations as to how I can find foods that I will eat that will help?
    The three main sources of calories are fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Sources of unhealthy saturated fats are butter, cheese and fatty cuts of meats; whereas sources of healthy unsaturated fats are nuts, vegetable oils, olives and seafood.     I’ve been primarily Paleo for over three years and my allergies are much better (basically gone – they flair if I don’t eat as clean). I used Chris’s autoimmune protocol and in 6-12 months put my Hashimoto’s in “remission”…. it is autoimmune disease so I will have to manage it my entire life, but the antibodies are not present in my blood, nor have they been for over a year and a two years. I think if we look at this as “getting back to wellness” and NOT a diet, it is much more achievable. Gluten is a HUGE no-no for me, I have had (to my knowledge) none in 3.5 years and I no longer miss it (which, by the way, didn’t happen overnight!). Grains are rough stuff if not prepared really carefully (look to Westin Price literature if you want to still eat grains).
