Breakfast is usually the hardest meal for most to modify, as we’re a country of toast and cereal-eating junkies. Moving to slow carbs and protein requires a more lunch-like meal for breakfast. This is easier when you realize that breakfast can be a smaller meal, particularly when followed by a lunch 3-5 hours later. Try it for 5 days and you’ll see the difference. Not only will the increased protein intake in your first meal decrease water retention, it will also increase resting metabolism about 20% if your breakfast calories are at least 30% protein.

Day 8: morning, ok check the scale before eating or drinking and even better after doing your morning number 2, see where you’re at and don’t binge on junk food today, eat small meals at least 3 plus 2 healthy snacks. Your body might still be burning fat on day 8 and 9, if you don’t binge so your final number should be day 9 early morning before eating and drinking anything.
As for the bananas, if you just dislike them but are not allergic to bananas, come on, it’s only 3 bananas out of your 7 days. Bananas at this point are a great serving of healthy calories, potassium and have a real purpose on that day of your diet, mix it with skim milk and make a shake out of it or just plainly eat them down real fast during the day, one at a time.

I have used this diet to get me “back on track” for the first week when I get “off track” with eating healthy and have found it useful for that purpose. I’ve been on the Paleo diet for one week and I’ve lost 10 pounds so far. I usually have an egg, avocado and some berries for breakfast. Grilled chicken, greens, avocado, and a small piece of fruit for lunch. And for dinner I’ll have fish or venison (my husband and I hunt and fish on our land along with having a big orchard and garden) greens, roasted butternut squash and raw veggies. If I feel like I need a snack I have a glass of ” chocolate milk” it’s almond milk, coco powder, and liquid steave. Put it in a pinte jar shake and refrigerator for a few hours. It’s the best.
My suggestion: Get Seth Robert’s book on Shangri-La and start having plain MCT oil for breakfast, an hour before your coffee, no flavors at all, not even toothpaste. Drink your coffee, make sure it is an hour after the MCT oil, then do not eat until lunch.
Amen to your words Peter. There isn´t a miracle diet that helps you lose the weight. You have to watch yout calorie intake. If you keep overeating even on paleo it´ll be impossible to lose some weight.

I am just one person but this is how I have been successful. My adrenal and thyroid issues were holding me up a bit but its more than that. Regardless of what people say for some of us (like me) its calorie counting. Eat lots of fresh veggies, then good quality lower fat protein and a little fruit. No diet foods. Stevia does not give me any problems. I struggled like you and that’s what I have had to do. Yes, what you eat is important but how much is just as important. All these great paleo deserts have more calories and fat that just a regular desert. Weigh and measure for the first few months. I also found weighing myself daily for about the first four months gave me a good idea of how my body works. Id loose a few pounds and then gain and then loose lower than I was before, etc. In six weeks I have lost 12 pounds. I can’t exercise right now but just focusing on making food NOT a focus. I accept sugar is not good for body and neither are grains or dairy. See a good therapist to help you figure out why you have good issues. Good luck.
It’s not very exciting but after two days of fasting these meals are like a feast and I am grateful for them. I am convinced that the fast is intended to make you appreciate the little bit of food you are finally allowed. I’ve never been so happy to eat a plain piece of chicken in my life.
Hi Addy, I started eating Paleo about a month ago, and I feel so much healthier. Everything you said just about sums up exactly what I’ve been doing. I don’t feel deprived of anything. My mentality is that I am doing this to live longer. I have lost weight (8lbs) without trying. Sometimes I will get cravings for something sweet so I’ll make my favorite snack: an apple (sliced) sautéed in butter with cinnamon. Yummy!
The guilt and confusion is stressing me out so I’ve generally been eating far less, or not at all, to ensure I’m not messing everything up. I know it’s not the right choice but I can’t bear the thought of eating those Epsom salts again. Petronella has helped me prioritise the rules and we have come up with a safe and acceptable plan B for emergency situations.
