Try changing things up a bit by making sure you’re eating enough protein throughout the day. For instance, drinking only bulletproof coffee in the morning may not be stimulating your metabolism enough. You may find you need to make other changes as well. Look closely at the rest of the meals your eating and make sure all three macronutrients protein, carbs and healthy fats are adequate. If you’re not sure how much you need, check out the free website myfitnesspal.com and do some calorie counting just for a few days and see what happens.
Warongdech/ShutterstockOrdering a diet soda may seem like a good compromise between sticking to your diet and still having a beverage you love. But the artificial sweeteners used in most calorie-free drinks don’t lead to weight loss and can even cause weight gain, according to research published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism. The artificial chemicals interfere with important enzymes and hormones in your body, leading to increased waist size, they report. Here’s more on how diet soda causes weight gain.
[Update] After several great comments and observations from our readers, some of these recipes had been found to have one or two non paleo ingredients, so we have swapped out some of the original recipes and replaced them with some more, true paleo meals. Thank you for those who pointed out our mistakes and we want to continue this and keep making all our meal plans the best they can be!
Stuffed Yellow Squash – These squash get the ground beef treatment and make for a pretty well-balanced meal. It’s always good to have a built-in vegetable with your meal, and stuffing a squash with beef provides just that. The savory flavor of the beef goes well with the mild flavor of the squash, and this may just end up on your regular dinner rotation. The most successful Paleo dieters are the ones that have a collection of go-to dinner recipes to take some of the thought process out of dinnertime.
Intechra Health also provides many studies proving the safety of each ingredient. You can easily find them on its site, and some of the ingredients are even considered as most powerful metabolism enhancer on the market. With the 100% clinically-research ingredients, Apex-TX5 has its own reputation for its performance.

I’m now 18 and 175lbs. I lost 22lbs in 2 months. Although “unhealthy” all I did was walk. In school I walked up and down the stairs with my best friend and after school I walked around the track talking to her. We never ran or jogged (we are both to self-conscious), only walked.
Aah. Good question. No one ever talks about this one. Honestly, I lost a lot of friends. I’m sure my mother-in-law thought I had an eating disorder at the time and I know some of my girlfriends were talking about me behind my back, saying that I was compulsively exercising and anorexic. Since they had never been able to sustain any type of healthy weight loss themselves, I had to be doing something illicit. When someone has amazing success in an area that you yourself have not, it can highlight your failures and make you feel bad about yourself. A lot of people – okay a lot of women (let’s be honest) – will revert to subversive measures, i.e. gossip and backstabbing, to make themselves feel better about themselves. It was hard, but I lost a lot of friends. Also, those people who were happy for me now found me to be a huge pain in the ass when it came to outings, like going out for dinner. I can’t just grab a burger anymore. There needs to be attention paid to what restaurants I frequent and that requires planning. A lot of people stopped calling and asking me out places because I was no longer convenient to be around.
Ultimately, weight loss for the long-term requires some short-term behavior change and healthier habit formation. That’s why we created our Good Housekeeping Nutritionist Approved Emblem, which exists to help turn smart food choices into healthier eating habits. All GHNA foods and drinks make it easier to find — and eat — good-for-you foods without additional time, effort, and cost. We target the lifestyle-related factors that make healthier eating hard, and find simple but creative solutions that actually work! Look for the emblem on labels wherever you shop for food!
“When cardiologists see obese patients with coronary artery disease, we routinely recommend that they lose weight,” Dr. Bangalore says. “But the irony of that is that we know patients don’t just lose weight—they often gain it back quickly. We know this adds significant stress on the body, so we need to figure out how we can prevent that.”
One of my problems is I cannot abide fish – any cooked fish. I cannot choke it down. So my question is, do you have substitute suggestions for the fish-heavy meals? I notice in the first day both tuna and salmon are served. Is it as simple as finding an alternate protein source or substituting a recipe from later in the meal plan that is more appealing?
Most definitely. I can’t stand people who play the victim or who feel that they have no power over their own decisions. At first I try to empower them. If it’s an abject failure, I cut my losses and move on.
My breakfast this morning was 3 eggs scrambled in tablespoon of butter, Pan fried turkey and 1/4 cup of cheese on the eggs. It really was a large pile. (I know the cheese isn’t a great Paleo input but I was hard pressed to find calories. In the future I’ll add lots of fried greens and cabbage.

I started the Paleo diet about 6 weeks ago. In the first week I lost 2kg (I need to lose 45pounds) and really struggled with hunger pains during the night. Through my own lack of willpower and many party invites I fell off the Paleo Wagon and put it straight back on again.
Interesting read. Having struggled to lose weight (on Paleo) for a number of years I think it is a far more complicated issue. I’ve just started my journey, but a big part of my issue is in my blood test results…
Eat more often. If you eat 5-6 times a day, it could keep hunger at bay. You could split your calories equally across all of those mini-meals, or make some bigger than others. You will need to plan portions so that you don’t up eating more than you bargained for.
“The best way to lose weight on The Paleo Diet is to not ‘do’ The Paleo Diet like we ‘do’ other diet trends. In other words, don’t try to come up with a set of rules (do eat this, don’t eat that) and then cram everything into those rules that will fit. DO eat mostly meat and vegetable, cycle your starch, and attend to the other inputs of health – responsible exercise, sleep, and stress management. DO NOT eat paleo-ified versions of the same junk you always ate while ignoring the other aspects of your lifestyle that will keep you from peak health.”
1: “If you’re trying to lose weight, you’re better off cooking simple dishes that don’t have a bunch of extra ingredients and additional flavoring, and saving those recipes for special occasions or a nice weekend dinner”
The sweeping changes in our modern day diet have been brought on by agriculture, but our genes have not changed as quickly. What they did not include were grains, salt, legumes, refined sugars, dairy products and highly processed foods. The low-carb Paleo diet is the most popular diet around today, and has gained a huge celebrity following, including Matthew Mc – Conaughey, Megan Fox, Jessica Biel, Kellan Lutz, and supermodel Adriana Lima.
I have to say that since going paleo the weight loss has been significant. Not only have I lost weight around my waist, I really feel far more energetic – I don’t have the allergic reactions, especially hay fever or heavy head and I have so much more energy.
