For a hearty healthy diet, avoid trans fat. This means choosing baked or roasted foods over fried ones. Also eat red meat about once or twice a week (or less), and select lean cuts, such as sirloin or filet mignon. Steer clear of:

I completely agree with Andy. All the sugars – honey, agave, etc.- “allowable” on Paleo trigger insulin responses and signal the body to store fat. I went low carb 2 years ago, and yes, the excess fat I couldn’t lose for 30 years just evaporated. Now if I ever feel a pound or 2 creeping back (rare), I check in on my carbs, cut back a bit, INCREASE dietary FAT (yes!), and I’m back to good in no time. As much as we know about fat not being the bad-guy, we STILL have a hard time truly understanding it. (Good) Fat Rocks! Otherwise, I totally agree with most of your assessments. SLEEP is a critical one!!!!

Just wondering about the lap band. If that is working so well why would you need to do this diet? Sounds like the band is a success story. How long have you had it and who did this for you? How many fills have you had……sounds like a good choice. To you success! Would like a response from you.

If you are at a plateau, try and cut out the things that have a lot of sodium, such as cottage cheese, deli meats (probably the worst) and red meats. Substitute alternatives like fresh turkey (not ground) or chicken. You would be surprised what happens in a week with lower sodium diet.

You can also follow our favorite strategy. After all, I know how tough it is to stay loyal to a strict diet, especially without a plan to follow. It’s why we created free resources that can help you reach your goals faster without you also going crazy.

LAP BAND is a drastic weight loss stomach surger – FROM WIKIPEDIA: “A laparoscopic adjustable gastric band, commonly referred to as a lap band, is an inflatable silicone device that is placed around the top portion of the stomach, via laparoscopic surgery, in order to treat obesity.”

You’re still hungry because Paleo/Primal is not the holy grail that many make it out to be. I find that a lot of the stuff that the paleo community has to say is just fluff and often does more harm than good. What I will suggest is intermittent fasting. That’s the only way that I can stick with primal, is by fasting 16-18 hours a day. Although fasting helped me to solve the hunger issue, I’m still struggling with the lack of sleep part as well.

6. Go the distance. “Stop using the closest rest room, parking space, or vending machine,” says Minneapolis fitness trainer Sandra Swami. As the instructor of a program that’s designed to help working women get more active, Swami urges her clients to get in the habit of taking the longest route to the rest room (on a different floor, if that’s possible) and climb stairs to get there.

This individual’s goal is to lose the 16 pounds she has gained. Since her weight has been gradually increasing, she knows that she is consuming more calories than she is burning, especially with her sedentary job. She decides that a weight loss of 1 pound per week (equal to a deficit of about 3,500 calories, or cutting 500 calories per day) would be acceptable and would allow her to reach her goal in about four months.

Don’t go hungry. Make sure not to skip meals, and always have some healthy low fat snacks on hand. When you starve yourself, you are more likely to overeat and make bad food choices. Try to eat healthy, regular meals.

There are other simple means to get rid of the excess fat from your body, which always seems to become a cause for low self-esteem and loss of confidence. But, when you give your body a makeover by shedding those extra pounds, then that would really be the best thing you are giving to yourself.

As in my above post its a very strict paleo diet.my typical day i have a protein shake with 1 tbls spoon of raw almonds bfast. and then lunch and dinner is a lean protein veggies steamed or salad (lettuce and tomatoes oil and vinegar ) and maybe sliced avocado. when hungry ill eat only approved paleo food Ive cut out my apple daily as well. i sleep 10hours a day and work as a bartender witch is physical. no extra exercise.thanks Beverly

Staying motivated to lose weight can be tough, but it’s key to weight loss. When we skip a workout or overeat and use the dreaded words “I’ll start again on Monday” or “I’ll start again tomorrow” we are missing a great opportunity to learn and move on, to hit our reset buttons. The single most important lesson I can teach you about weight loss is that everyone messes up. It’s the people who mess up and get over it (aka: hit their reset button) that succeed.

  1. Started slow carb diet today after reading 4 Hour Body over the break. Had a great breakfast of egg whites, one whole egg, microwaved spinach and onions mixed into the eggs, and a half cup of no fat refried beans. I had this at 7:30 and my lunch (work lunches) is not until 1:00 pm. Its 10:30 am and I am already hungry!!!! What do you suggest? I know that tomorrow I will up my bean intake at breakfast to fill up.
I did the Bulletproof Coffee thing (butter, coffee, MCT) in the mornings as ‘breakfast’ until then eating lunch around noon. Maybe in addition to having eaten too many other calories, I gained weight like crazy and can’t get it off.
Exercise tips, first 3-4 days keep it to a minimal like just walking and your usual activities. Starting day 5 to 7, I highly recommend walking for 45 minutes extra of your normal activities. No need for fast pace or anything extra, just a nice 45 minutes walk. It will not only burn calories, it will help with your hunger and intake of your last few soup meals. By day 5 to 7 your pot of soup should look low and just enough to finish through day 5 and 7.
I’m in week 2 of this diet, and I’ve had the same experience, too, NK! I lost 3.5lbs the first week, had my cheat day, gained 1.5 lbs, and 5 days later I’ve only lost .5lbs of the post-cheat weight. Help!
