I do not have much weight to lose (about 10 pounds ), and I wonder if to lose , I have to necessarily go low carb or low fat , or if I can have a balance of macronutrients. I enjoy fat AND carbohydrates. I do not eat meat , but eggs and fish . For breakfast I like eating fruits with lots of coconut milk or eggs with vegetables and potatoes ou fruit. For the over meal, I eat rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes or quinoa with avocado, plenty of vegetables and fruits, and, for dinner, some fish (I prefer fatty fish). I’m afraid to perturb my metabolism of I go on a low carb or a low fat diet, because I don’t have a lot of pound to lose. What do you think? 🙂

Danielle – you may be experiencing what they call the carb-flu its basically your body detoxing from the carbs and sugar that we are no longer eating. How long have you tried eating this way? Usually the carb-flu will last about a week or so but for some it can take a couple of weeks before you start feeling really good – hard to deal with but is so worth it once you get over that hump! Another suggestion would be upping your fat intake and make sure you are getting plenty of sleep. research is showing more and more how very important the sleep aspect is for our health! I really need to change my eating habits the problem I won’t eat 95% of the food on this list. I don’t eat a lot of veggies and I don’t eat fish at all. I’m not sure there is a diet that would really work for me. This diet sounds like it helps with pain and inflammation which 8 have a lot of. Do you have any recommendations as to how I can find foods that I will eat that will help?

I’m an autopsy pathologist, and 100% of obese people have enlarged hearts simply from carrying the weight. Ditto if you’re doing serious athletics. I have been strict Paleo for 9days. Completely illuminated dt. Coke, which has been my rocket fuel for 20 years. I am a type 1 diabetic. I am very active, runner, Zumba and I move all day at my job. These past 5 days my muscles are fatigued. 15 min.into an hour workout and my thighs are screaming. What is going on? Help!

I think the issue is what is done the results and how they are presented to the public. Coke is spending millions of dollars here and has a marketing PR budget that researchers don’t have so they can take the findings and share them and use them to try to fight policy and all these laws that are being debated about taxing soda. Coke has this body of evidence that is biased since they are funding exercise studies and not diet studies. They can then use these in public policy debates, and I think that could be really worrisome.
I think what you’re not getting is the article is saying the *weightloss* part of eating Paleo is often effortless, because a lot of people lose weight when the cut out the processed junk – I don’t think the article is implying that eating Paleo is easy (though for me it is!!) it is saying that the weight loss part once you make the switch is often without additional effort (calorie counting, exercising etc.). I think you are the one caught up on the semantics!
