What an absolute load of Bull. You may incidentally lose 10 pounds due to emptying the bowels of excessive food and less glycogen bonding of water weight, but that is it. In no way shape or form is this an eating plan to successfully burn fat – 9/12/14

Sorry for the rant but calories have been documented in study after study as the factor for body composition (weight training to keep/build lean mass as well) but have such a negative stigma that I had to post it somewhere.

My hubby at last agreed to join me on Paleo giving up his empty complex carbs n within 2 days his blood sugar dropd 2points n his weight 400gr n his tummy 4cm. Hez amazed. I think the issue is what is done with the results and how they are presented to the public. Coke is spending millions of dollars here and has a marketing PR budget that researchers don’t have so they can take the findings and share them and use them to try to fight policy and all these laws that are being debated about taxing soda. Coke has this body of evidence that is biased since they are funding exercise studies and not diet studies. They can then use these in public policy debates, and I think that could be really worrisome.

Actually, a ketogenic diet is the most dangerous for type 1 diabetics (autoimmune diabetes), not type 2. Also, a paleo diet does not necessarily mean high protein with moderate fat. You can adjust your macros on a paleo plan. You can do a moderate protein and high fat paleo plan. There is also a way to do paleo with a keto twist. Macros need to be adjusted to what your body can handle. If your protein is the highest macro, that can cause a lot of problems for people as well. Paleo encourages plenty of fats, proteins and lots of veggies and fruits, and discourages grains. That is it.

Thank you for posting this. I just started paleo 2 weeks ago, but am already getting nervous about hitting a plateau. I have always been an active person, but have laws struggled to be the perfect weight. Now I have an infant, and paleo helped me lose the last couple of pounds to get to pre baby weight, 124 lbs. Today I stepped on the scale and it read 123! I do not think people should look at paleo as a diet, but as a life style change. I wonder why there are so many negative comments on here. Paleo is very realistic and it will definitely help you battle disease..from what I have heard from a lot of people! Keep posting great things and merry Christmas! 😉

Eating out at restaurants can get tough too, and “paleo-approved” is not something you’ll usually find on a menu.  Eating in this manner requires careful planning and tons of willpower, but it can be done if you’re dedicated.

Thanks for the great article. I didn’t knew about these wonderful benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar, I am definitely going to take it before meals as suggested in the article. I have recently decided to lose some weight and I was able to succeed too due doing research on these foods. 7 months now and have lost almost 70 lbs. I have been fighting weight issues all my life and have lost well over 300 pounds off and on, but always comes back. With Paleo the weight has stayed off and I am continuing to lose weight. Now I do lift weights every morning for about 45 – 60 minutes so I’m sure that helps too. All I can say is that for the first time in 21 years since I decided to start losing weight, it truly feels like I don’t have to stress about the weight coming back. I do fell hungry at times, but I just eat more Paleo foods… I was 335 lbs and now I’m looking pretty good at 265!

In summary, no sugar, no polyunsaturated fats, get fats from real butter and cheese, but most importantly, listen to what your body is telling you, do not eat out of habit. Eat when you are hungry and stop when you are not. If you aren’t hungry when you wake up, have a coffee and leave eating to when you are hungry.

I have been following plan for three days. Going really well, my energy level has soared! Great way for Paleo newbie to learn foods, cooking approach & transition to this lifestyle. Lots of time spent though, shopping & cooking. Hopefully as I learn I can be more efficient!

All kinds of other things affect insulin levels. Just to name a few: sleep deprivation, chronic stress, exposure to environmental toxins, menopause, genetic factors, vitamin deficiencies, and the composition of your gut flora.

Aah. Good question. No one ever talks about this one. Honestly, I lost a lot of friends. I’m sure my mother-in-law thought I had an eating disorder at the time and I know some of my girlfriends were talking about me behind my saying that I was compulsively exercising and anorexic. Since they had never been able to sustain any type of healthy weight loss themselves, I had to be doing something illicit. When someone has amazing success in an area that you yourself have not, it can highlight your failures and make you feel bad about yourself. A lot of people – okay a lot of women (let’s be honest) – will revert to subversive measures, i.e. gossip and backstabbing, to make themselves feel better about themselves. It was hard, but I lost a lot of friends. Also, those people who were happy for me now found me to be a huge pain in the ass when it came to outings, like going out for dinner. I can’t just grab a burger anymore. There needs to be attention paid to what restaurants I frequent and that requires planning. A lot of people stopped calling and asking me out places because I was no longer convenient to be around.
