So at first I did loose a lot of weight effortlessly when i went Paleo back 6 years ago. I got to my goal weight of 117 and stayed for a while, this year though, after to many “cheats” with popcorn, gluten free crackers, and chocolate for a few months – 6-7 pounds have now creeped back on me, and it seems like no matter what it won’t budge. Following Paleo, no fruit, no sweeteners, no starchy veggies now, i have tried many different combos though, adding back in more starchy carbs and removing them further adding in more fat ect. I don’t understand why at first with Paleo my body responded right away with weight loss, now I that I regained some (I lost 40) it won’t budge! Is it possible our bodies become use to the Paleo and hence are not stacked into weight loss anymore when we stick to it? Is it possible I am to impatient? At first the weight flew off, I mean every week I lost 1-2 pounds.. now after 4 weeks no change on scale HELP.. annoyed 36 year old female.

It’s not recommended that you count calories while you’re doing this: remember from above that nobody can actually count calories accurately, even when they think they can. Chances are, you’re not an exception. Instead, try building your meals to automatically contain fewer calories, without worrying about the specific numbers:

Yeah, that does seem rather aggressive, although the math works pretty good. 180 days at a 900 cal deficit divided by the standard 3300 cals per pound lost equals 49 pounds. For good measure I’m throwing in cutting out beer drinking which accounts for an additional 3500 cals a week minimum.

Not only will these toxic processed foods make them gain weight but overtime their bodies will become more sicker. This will cause many to seek help from conventional medicine which will give them medications toxic to their bodies.

It probably won’t hurt your metabolism to go either low carb or low fat, but it sounds to me like you are sitting at a healthy weight that your body is comfortable at. If you want to drop the “last ten pounds” you may need to restrict either carbs, fat, or calories, or exercise a LOT. Most women’s bodies aren’t made to be super thin, so achieving that kind of thinness for us (I am definitely one of them) can take a more serious effort. I have since stopped making such an effort. Whenever I want to tone up a little bit, however, I go low fat for a while.

A better idea is to reincorporate small amounts of non-Whole30 foods one at a time, waiting a few days before adding something else back in. (This woman’s joint pain disappeared after following an elimination diet.) For instance, after day 30, continue to follow Whole30, but have yogurt for breakfast and add some cheese to your salad. Do this for a few days and see if any symptoms pop up. If they do, you know that dairy is problematic for you. Then, try the same thing with another food group, like gluten-free grains. (Reintroducing gluten-free and gluten-containing grains separately can help you determine whether you have a gluten sensitivity.)

  1. Hi, For those of you who are struggling to lose weight on Paleo, I just wanted to share my experience – I know everyone is different but I have had a lot of success with my plan and hopefully it can help you.
    the rice is referring to ricing cauliflower i believe. i use honey instead of brown sugar for anything, sub coconut oil for veg, and only use grass fed cheeses. those fixes should bring it a lot closer to paleo.
    I came across Tara Grant last fall when she was featured in Mark Sisson’s then-new book ‘The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Transformation’ She is featured as one of the success stories. I liked her look (I love retro fashion) and she’d experienced endometriosis, IVF and had twin boys. My story and hers were almost identical in many ways…except for the little matter of the fact she’s achieved a weight loss of 115lbs. And kept it off.
