I have yo-yo dieted since the age of 12. Following many extreme diets. I have not eaten wheat or sugar or pre-packaged foods for months. 2 weeks ago I started the paleo re-set diet, and excluded all wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol from my diet. I have one cup of black coffee a day, herbal teas and water. I am devastated that whilst initially dropping a couple of kilos, I find myself back at square one. I am doing high intensity interval training 3-4 times a week and yet my body just does not seem to want to shed weight. My clothes do not particularly feel any loser. I have diarrhea most days. I cook with coconut oil or ghee, and limit my snacks to almonds or macademia nuts. I am 3 stones overweight and absolutely fed up of 40 days of dieting!!

I’m used to being really thin, but depression and losing my twin brother two years ago [I’m female] caused me to stay in bed all day on my computer ever since I lost my brother. I eat one meal per day and I’m still a little overweight, my weight gain started when I took a pill for a week that makes you gain weight but I thought taking it in a low dose wouldn’t have that effect. When I do eat food its rarely healthy, I eat mashed potatoes and cup of noodles x3 as my meals, with no exercise eating this little doesn’t make me lose any weight. I assume I’m over 200 pounds at 8 feet 5 inches and my birthday is late next month and I want to get my life on track and to do that I need to feel comfortable in my body. I gain weight in my belly the most and weight gain is traumatic to me. I’m looking for the best pill that will take about 20 to 30 pounds off in a month or two without much exercise. Then I can go work out to tone up and get my body healthy again. Anyone know what pill I should choose for my goal?

Your criticism is completely baseless. No where in the article does Chris state that a paleo diet is “easy and natural for everybody.” He does state that a paleo diet can lead to easy weight loss, due to the sateity per calorie. And if you are “lean and fit” already, why are you even reading an article about weight loss?
I do get a bit ticked at the “You didn’t gain it over night” remark. Three out of the four times I’ve gained/regained weight it was to the tune of 40lbs in three months. This is just a bit over 3lbs a week. Yes, I really did gain it over night.
1/2lb? The best thing you can do for yourself if you’re doing crossfit is to lock up your scale and only weigh yourself once a week. “gaining” 1/2 lb isn’t unusual. What exactly did you “gain?” Was is water? Fat? muscle? do you even know? My guess is your water cycles are holding on to some water. Don’t worry about 1/2 lbs. Keep on going. Good work, keep it up.
I forgot to mention above^^: When I was on my old diet of having a cheat meal once a week, I did not have my period for about 7 months. Now that I am refeeding instead, my period has returned to normal.
Nuts can be somewhat inflammatory for me, so I avoid them when trying to lose weight. I make homemade coconut milk (tastes way better than canned and doesn’t have the gums) that I can put in my coffee etc. It’s super easy. throw a package of shredded unsweetened coconut and 4c of hot water in a blender and let ‘er rip. Strain/press through a fine sieve, and you’ve got yourself a bunch of fresh homemade coconut milk.
When I had the stroke (a cluster of mini strokes) I was very I’ll, had a tonne of invasive tests, that were very painful. Giving up bread goods took me over a year to complete, 18 months on, since doing a health plan very close to this diet, I don’t struggle with Aphasia as bad as I did, I can now walk without someone with me, and I got back into employment. And yes this was caused by food intake.
Here is your excuse for cheese: Gouda has a lot of Vit K2 /MK7 form/ which is hard to get anywhere else /except natto and foie gras/ and is vital for bone health. K2 directs calcium to the bones and teeth, instead into your arteries. I eat gouda every single day and once a week I eat fatty goose liver. Hope that’s a good excuse 🙂

Doing something you like while doing your normal chores will eliminate the excuse “I have no time to exercise”. I have 4 kids, and have lost a combined total of 150 lbs by eating right and dancing while I work around the house.
