I eat a paleo diet, but I eat a lot of vegetables. In fact, I eat more vegetables than the vast majority of “vegetarians” I know. I also eat a fair amount of starches. I can walk into darn near any restaurant and find plenty to eat while still staying on plan.

thanks for the helpful tips!I went Paleo the beginning of last month,have lost 10 lbs already,sleep better,have more energy and have been told that my skin is glowing!I am doing this not just to shed the weight,but to prevent becoming diabetic,get off the blood pressure meds(thyroid may be a little trickier!)and help with the soreness of my knee,a structural anomaly(difference in lenghth of other one),but also overuse(I walk a LOTand exercise a LOT!)For years,I have embraced aspects of the Paleo path….avoided chemicals,make my own toiletries,ditched my can opener,etc the food part was a challenge,after being vegan/vegetarian for decades,etc….but THIS seems to work for me…I have many challenges about the weight thing in particular….I am 4~11″,66 years young,female and as mentioned earlier,that @&^$#* thyroid(Hashimoto`s)so this has been a supreme victory…I am so optimistic,I started giving away many of my clothes and buying new ones at smaller sizes!Rather than focusing on what I must give up,I am excited about the bigger picture of improved health!Some of my friends have dropped me because I am no longer a drinking buddy,etc…oh well…..

This list is great but just an fun to those new or unfamiliar with Paleo, several of these recipes are not paleo. Rice, quinoa, brown sugar, vegetable oil and cheese are all ingredients that are not paleo. This list would be more aptly called Primal food plan. Delicious, yes, but paleo, no.

I am also frustrated by weight gain, about 30 lbs. In 3 years! I am 50 yrs. old and at my highest weight EVER! I’ve seen many people at my gym lean out & get ripped eating paleo. Just remember, it’s suppose to be a soup and not a meal, so you must have enough liquid. Best way, look where your veggies end up before adding the water, then make a visual mark 2 inches higher than the veggies and add your water accordingly to hit that 2 inches above the veggies. Make sense?
