Coat Brussels sprouts in 1/2 tsp. olive oil and bake at 425 degrees F until lightly browned, about 15-20 minutes. Coat salmon with 1/4 tsp. olive oil or a thin layer of cooking spray (1 second spray), add salt and pepper to taste (1/8 tsp. each). Bake at 425 degrees F until done, about 4-6 minutes. Serve brown rice, Brussels sprouts and salmon drizzled with vinaigrette and topped with walnuts.

I am not eating any Paleo treats, I’m not particularly stressed, exercise is so-so (like it has always been), and I definitely do not have unrealistic goals. I did try different types of exercise over a longer time period but it didn’t change anything. Over the course of months, I have not lost a simple oz! I don’t eat any fruit and a very minimum of nuts. Loads of veggies, eggs, organic meats. I find it close to impossible to figure out my right combination of micronutrients as I am numb to any effects of changing my diet. I don’t feel any different – I’m not happier, more satisfied, in better harmony with myself etc. – I just don’t feel anything no matter how hard I try. Any suggestions?

As stated above, fruit does have quite a bit of sugar in it, and nuts have quite a few calories, so if you are following the Paleo Diet but not losing weight, check your fruit and nut consumption and see if you are loading up on those at the expense of vegetables and healthy protein.
A piece of saltine cracker contains 13 calories. So just try to use the substitute with the same number of calories. Rice cake is your best bet for this purpose. Other close substitutes are plain toast and whole grain cereal. But, be sure about the calorie count.
There are so many factors that can impact your ability to lose weight, such as the amount of weight you have to lose in the first place, pre existing conditions, sleep patterns, hydration, stress levels, and amount of food consumed. I would recommend that you keep a food and activity journal for a few weeks and see if you notice any patterns (i.e. Consuming a lot of carbs, skipping breakfast, not drinking enough water, drinking too much eating too much sugar, not exercising enough, etc) and then adjust as needed. I strived desperately over the years to get back to this weight, but with a stressful and busy work life, I struggled to do so. Nothing seemed to work for me. I tried everything from diet pills to exercise machines I saw advertised on TV. I even tried crazy diets like the acai berry diet, and the green tea diet.
In other words? Don’t assume a plateau means it’s time to eat fewer calories. Instead, consider the bigger picture to identify any and all contributing factors. And be open to the fact that your body might be happy right where it is—even if you were hoping to drop another five pounds.
And let’s not overlook the significant reduction in high-glycemic carbohydrates: Cutting out refined grains and most added sugars eliminates two top sources of empty calories that raise your body’s level of insulin, our primary energy-storage hormone.
This is a great approach. I’ve read that cinnamon, fenugreek seed, and vinegar all have similar effects. I take 1000 mg of cinnamon per day and use either red wine or apple cider vinegar olive oil to make a salad dressing on my mixed green salad (mostly spinach though).
