i was clicking my ‘stumbleupon’ button and came across this. i’ve been looking to lose some weight, and trying. once i read this, and because i hadn’t eaten in a few hours, i quickly made myself some chicken, pinto beans, and vegetables. this is the exact diet i was looking for. i’ve never been much of a breakfast food person, so i have no problem substituting the typical american breakfast foods. but one question….are canned foods alright?

I did this diet when vegetarian. I used Yves ground beef substitute and ground chicken, as well as the veggie beef burgers on beef days..Looked for high protein low carb veggie protein options. And used miso soup for the base instead of beef or chicken broth. And onion soup mix instead of chicken noodle. It does work….

I’ve been intrigued by the Roberts/Guyenet approach, but honestly what they are suggesting sounds like punishment. it’s one thing to eat simply, but no salt on your meat? Getting your fat from plain MCT oil? Going this far to reduce palatability sounds really depressing and reminds me of how I used to treat myself when I had a severe eating disorder many years ago. Are you able to still feel joy and delight in life while eating like this? Because if not, I don’t think it’s healthy regardless of whether you lose weight. I’m curious about your experience though, so thanks for posting.

I’m certain that the tea I drink with a little milk can’t be the problem because that equates to very very little plus I’m really often craving snacks during the week but am a really good boy and resist (I eat a tomato instead)

Hi yeah I know what you mean, that’s why communal are good, because the meal is best if it takes 20 minutes to eat, as this is how the brain is wired to accept the full signal. I have to admit I forget a lot of the time about this principle but if remembered it does actually work… And helps in reducing portion size.

In reality, we need people to stop drinking sugary beverages like soda. Soda is the one consumable beverage that is repeatedly cited as having the biggest impact on obesity rates. From a public health standpoint, we want soda out of schools and we want cities to really decrease intake of soda—and Coca-Cola knows this and knows they are being proactive and defensive against taxes on soda and other limitations.

As far a bread is concerned, don’t beat yourself up about it. If you follow the 70/30 rule, it allows you to have 3 non-Paleo meals per week. Meaning you can have a few slices of bread per week as long as you don’t go overboard. I would suggest no more than 3 and stick to wholemeal.

I was diagnosed Celiac in November.I tried the gluten free products out there and was really disappointed with the taste and how highly processed some of it is so I decided to try Paleo.I have lost 30 pounds so far and feel better than I ever have.

  1. The Paleo diet is rich in nutrients and plenty of variety, so you don’t ever have to be bored or hungry! While it does take some getting used to, with the right tools, you’ll be a Paleo pro in no time.
    Also, I’m fairly sure this is normal, but the first 3 or 4 days or so of going Paleo, I felt very lethargic and just drained of energy. I wouldn’t say weak, but I had to take breaks while cleaning my apartment. It was terrible! Anyone else experience this?
    I have noticed that urine volume has increased a lot. Frequency remains pretty much the same though so thats good. You’re right though about changing breakfast being the hardest. I just keep eating eggs and bacon which psychologically is wrong (I’m not sure bacon is even allowed!). I’m used to greek yoghurt with a tablespoon of apricot and honey compote on work days (with large filter coffee) and a Venti non-fat starbucks on saturday with a bacon & egg bap on Sunday. I’ve been on it for 7 days. I’m not hungry at all. I’m sufffering from the mental challenge of it though, hitting a wall atm. Must…find…strength.
