I had a thyroidectomy in Oct 2013. I’m 45 and was told that I had hosimotos an autoimmune disease then a few weeks later told I had Hurthel cell cancer. I agreed to have my thyroid removed and found out weeks later that it was no cancerous. Now I’m dealing with extreme fatigue and I’ve gained approx 20 lbs since October. I’m afraid to step on the scale to see for sure. I use to run 5 and 10 km races and also run 1/2 marathons. Now it takes everything for me to get energy to do anything I just want to sleep. The doctors are playing the lets adjust your medication game and it could take awhile before they find the right dosage. Without a thyroid I basically have no metabolism which makes it very hard to lose weight. I’m hoping by cutting out all the bad carbs and sugars from my diet it will help build up some sort of energy for me. A friend from work was talking about the Paleo diet so I decided to do some research. It looks like something I could do . I’m looking forward to picking up your book later today, cleaning out my cupboards/ fridge and starting my new journey. 30 days to a cleaner healthier me 🙂
If one doesn’t eat meat, and can’t handle grains, legumes, starches, eggs, dairy, lots of nuts and seeds, and sugars, the only thing that remains is veggies, fats, and maybe some low glycemic fruits. That is a starvation diet. Many of us have gut problems and food intolerances made worse by years of grain and sugar eating. I have found that adding meat back into my diet to be a profound relief and has enabled me to rebuild my gut so that I can now add various foods back in and safely handle them again. I have found grass fed meats to be very beneficial, healing (particularly bone broth) and strengthening. Of course I don’t recommend the meat, dairy and eggs of grain-fed, inhumanely raised, sickly animals. But there are options. One size does not fit all. At some point you too may just be burdened by fatigue, hormonal dysfunction, allergies, gut problems, auto-immune disease, etc., and find that you feel better after eating meat. Many, many former vegetarians and vegans have discovered this, just so you know for the future (and the present!!!).
Drink more water as possible , till 5Lit. per day , cause water doesnt have any sugar and it burns your Calories. for 7 months Im doing this i was 102 kg and im only 17 old , now after 7 months Im 78 i feel brilliant and i started fitness and i have got my six-packs (which were my dream)
Exercise is key to most weight loss plans because it helps you burn more calories, and more calories burned equals more pounds lost. But what if you hate exercise? Is it required to lose weight? It certainly helps you stay healthier (by revving your heart rate and building your muscles.) But it is not mandatory. There are ways to lose pounds without exercising.
As a fruit, mangos definitely qualify as a paleo food, and to be fair, they have plenty of good qualities. For starters, they’re filled with soluble fiber and the vitamins C, A and B6. But even by fruit standards, mangoes are high in sugar—just one contains 31 grams! Opt for a less sugar-laden fruit, like berries or bananas.
Avocados, nuts, seeds, coconut oil and other sources of fats add significant calories to paleo diets. Fat has nine calories per gram, as opposed to the four calories per gram in carbohydrates or protein. Adding fat to every meal is easy and often makes them tastier. For example, cook chicken in coconut oil, sprinkle nuts and seeds on salads or eat an avocado with breakfast; a whole, 7-ounce avocado has 322 calories, 4 grams of protein and 29.5 grams of mostly heart-healthy fats.

Green beans are starchy. Try cutting them out for a while and cut the cottage cheese. Make sure that your first meal is 30g of protein (which yours would not be). Also, you should be measuring progress in terms of inch loss or body fat percentage loss as opposed to weight. Scales are not an accurate assessment of your health.
The Paleo Diet also almost completely eradicates sugar. Unless you’re getting your sugar from a fruit, forget it. Sugar causes an energy spike and crash in your system, turns to fat unless it’s used immediately, and wreaks all kind of havoc on our bodies.
My best tips are: • Go at your own speed + comfort level: A lot of people think that they have to lose the weight ASAP or they have to eat 100% paleo right away and that’s not the case. You can slowly lose weight and become paleo! You’ll still get results and for some people moving at a slower pace will help them not only lose the weight but keep it off in the long run! • Work within your budget! Stress = weight gain for a lot of us, so don’t feel like you have to eat 100% organic, grass-fed, pasture raised or what have you if it’s going to wreck your budget which in turn will make you really stressed out! Just work with the budget you have – if that means eating frozen veggies, non-organic produce and store bought meat then rock it out! In the end you’ll still shed the weight and look fabulous! • the scale – seriously, go break up with him and then toss him in the trash and forget about it!
I’m puzzled about “eating enough” vs. “intermittent fasting”. Since the advice to lose weight with Paleo is always to make sure you’re eating enough, yet on another front, experts say intermittent fasting is helpful for weight loss, how does your metabolism not slow down when you’re fasting versus just eating less when it’s the same thing? Definitely confusing.

I know! I tried once to loose some weight and actually did some diet and insanity workout together and 3 weeks later of all my efforts and work I ended up weighing more! so I just stopped doing it! What do you recommend?
Yeah, I’ve found that by following a few simple overall strategies one doesn’t have to be paranoid about the details like counting calories everyday. It’s not like our ancestors would or could have tracked their calories, or would have even known what a calorie was.
If you’re using all that extra free time that these devices are affording you to take long walks, ride your bike, or in some way regularly exercise—great. But let’s be realistic: Most of us are spending those hours sitting in a car or slouched in front of a computer or TV.

So, less carbs = less glucose in your system, which means your body will have to start burning fat as your fuel source. In other words, decreased fat storage and decreased body fat percentage and increased good-lookingness. Win!
Go easy on the starches: If your Paleo prescription includes starchy veggies, remember to eat them in moderation. Similarly to sugars, they’re digested relatively quickly and have a greater impact on blood sugar and insulin than other foods on the Paleo diet.
Switch to extra virgin olive oil or canola oil. When substituted for saturated fats (like butter), these healthy monounsaturated fats can help to improve blood cholesterol levels, thereby reducing risk for heart disease and obesity.
47 male. Cardio said my heart is slightly enlarged. I had high BP and cholesterol that required meds. No longer take them due to weight loss/lifestyle changes. Now both are normal. Will my heart decrease?

The best part is that they have the portability of a muffin, so you can grab one and go on your way without having to sit down to a formal breakfast. I’m surprised at the number of people that care about the number on the scale. Kind of disappointed actually. How do you look and feel? If you’re eating healthy, and see fat that you don’t want, then incorporate some strength training. If you already exercise, eat healthy, and look good, why do you care about your weight?
Any diet or cleansing program has to be maintained. If u go back to eating the same old junk food u will gain it back but this is an excellent cleanse and jump start to weight loss or even if u have a special occasion or event and need to get off a quick 10 lbs…. Eating on a daily basis has to be done in moderation. Cheat every now and then, not every day. I will be doing this once a month to continue to cleanse and maintain.
As far as exercising is concerned, you don’t need to hit the gym to lose weight. Start by turning off the TV and dusting around the house a little. You can then try and take the stairs instead of the lift and if you feel up to it, start walking to the nearest market for your minor shopping needs. Drop that car key, grab your mp3 player and walk.
