Hi Jessie – it’s hard to say because it does depend on what else you eat. I would suggest tracking your meals for a few days to see how much fat, protein, carbohydrates (as well as calories) that you’re taking in as we often estimate our own food intake badly. You might also get an idea about your vitamin and mineral intake too, which is really important!
The other aspect is finding quality ingredients. I have many stores around me but there is only this one small Spanish store in low rent district which sells good hamburg. The reason it is good is because they it up frozen. The quality of the meat everywhere else tastes like crap. It’s learning these little things. I also have found out that not all rice is created equal. A basmati kind I buy is only sold at a chinese store. Good quality ingredients raise the quality of the meal. You have to experiment and try things.

3. On MY diet (this is not to say it’s for everyone), brown rice is not OK unless within an hour after exercise. Too calorically dense and still normally high GI. Some will disagree, but here’s the thing. I’m not trying to get to 12% bodyfat (bf), I’m trying to get to 5-6%. This is HARD and requires that I be more strict that the average person.
