Yes, of course there are vegetarian and vegan ways to lose weight in a healthy and quick way. This website does not have the only or necessarily the best weight loss solution. No one strict program works for everyone. If you are on a diet that is not focused on or supported by this workout plan (in your case, vegetarian) then research other ways- from reliable sources- to safely lose weight.

Positively stay away from fast food. In addition to cooking everything in trans fat, fast food burgers, fries, and shakes (or burritos, mac ‘n’ cheese, or sandwiches) are whoppers when it comes to salt and sugar. They are essentially empty carbs, with no real nutrients to them. If you’re serious about shedding those pounds and getting your weight back on the right path, you’ll stay away from fast food.
Metformin is not for everyone and is not a diet pill. It can cause very unpleasant GI side effects and is hard on the kidneys. Drink lots of water and get your CMP checked every 3-6 months if you use it.
With that in mind, do you have a “general” recommendation on how often a person in my situation could safely have these types of food items without packing on the pounds? I saw somewhere that a Paleo dessert once a day, when all other meals that day have been Paleo with protein, veg, fat (no nuts, only a small amount of fruit). Any thoughts on this?

Have protein snacks available. I keep Cheddar cheese, cooked chicken cut into bite size pieces, hard boiled eggs, nuts (not that many of these though) celery with sugar free peanut butter. in my fridge ready to grab. Keep going you will get there.
This list is great but just an fun to those new or unfamiliar with Paleo, several of these recipes are not paleo. Rice, quinoa, brown sugar, vegetable oil and cheese are all ingredients that are not paleo. This list would be more aptly called Primal food plan. Delicious, yes, but paleo, no.
There are many studies that show major benefits of moderate alcohol consumption. That is why many people on Paleo still drink. I think we all know that heavy drinking is a problem, but no one knows exactly how much is too much. I’m sure it depends on a lot of factors that are different for everyone. It is hard to find that balance, for sure, but for many of us, giving up alcohol almost entirely doesn’t feel like the best or healthiest option. Stress may be worse for you than a little too much booze, so for some lifestyles sharing a bottle of wine in the evening might be the least of two evils. It’s really hard to say.
Amen to your words Peter. There isn´t a miracle diet that helps you lose the weight. You have to watch yout calorie intake. If you keep overeating even on paleo it´ll be impossible to lose some weight.

-Another possible cause of keeping the weight on is a food allergy that you are unaware of like eggs. Apparently, a lot of people are sensitive to eggs even though they are good for you and okay on the paleo diet. Since I discovered that I have this sensitivity, I eliminated eggs from my diet last March and the scale finally budged! If you are eating eggs, maybe try eliminating and see if this helps?
You could also “make your own version” of the Paleo diet. If you don’t want to, don’t exclude grain products but try to limit processed foods like fake meats, pizzas, maybe white bread? Just bring more variation by adding more vegetables and fruits to your diet (eggs if you’re not vegan) and limiting added sugar, instead of limiting grain products. No one says you have to be 100% strict Paleo to see positive results, there’s a lot of people who don’t exclude dairy or beans from their Paleo diet

I’m sure all Chris means by “without trying” is that horrible experience we have all gone through, cutting calories and going hungry, eventually that fight cannot be won, and we end up nutritionally deficient, fatigued, and all that fabulous weight loss then boomerangs into rapid weight gain, plus more. It actually takes quite a big dose of trying to lose weight that way, and that is what most people have experienced.
Any weight loss program needs to utilize foods that don’t contain those processed ingredients. They will fuel obedity and food addictions. GMO foods will aggravate the problem. If one looks at the top chefs in the world, they will use the best ingredients and we’re not talking expensive either. That is the basis to good food.
Leah, I’m curious if you ended up going through with it, or you quit? I too had some stomach pain, but day three was my “cleanse” day and after that I did feel so much better and had so much more energy. My cravings stopped and I just feel better! I am on day 5 so don’t know my results yet, but I love all this feedback and positive input! It helps to hear what you can and can’t do from people with experience with the diet. I tried intermittent fasting, but honestly, I felt that I had LESS energy for my morning workout. At a minimum, I need a handful of almonds before I head out for a 6 mile powerwalk. I generally eat something more substantial when I get home, but I need that protein to keep me moving at a good pace.
The best place to buy things if you can present them with some business card or even create a corporation having to do with food or if you know someone in restaurant business is Restaurant Depot who allows you to reference their account when you buy things. They sell food dirt cheap compared to super markets.
