I have questions about the Paleo way of life if you can call it that or prefer the term diet I don’t know, but I cannot seem to locate a message board or discussion group. Only finding blogs. I know this works to lose weight, my boss who has a discussion board/support group for Paleo dieters or cave people as she calls it, but she pays $425 a month!!!! She’s a veterinarian, she can afford it. She started in February 2014 and by July had lost 52 pounds without exercising just occasional short walks. She takes no supplements. She has been taken off her diabetic medicine too UNREAL! I would’ve started at the same time she did, but I was pregnant then.

“Quite a few CrossFit athletes I know gain weight — and not muscle mass! — when they switched to Paleo because they snack on a lot of nuts, avocados and oils and eat gobs of protein and not enough veggies,” she explained. “They miss the point that you’re supposed to eat a lot of vegetables and some fruit while following Paleo.”

Weight loss generally occurs when the body expends more calories than it takes in. That means, you have to burn off or eat fewer calories that you consume through meals and snacks. Many people cut calories from their diet and burn calories through exercise to achieve weight loss. Working out on a regular basis is helpful for weight loss, but may not be practical for some people due to health conditions, time restraints, or lack of interest. However, research shows that when it comes to weight loss, diet plays a much more important role compared to exercise. It’s easier to decrease caloric intake by modifying your diet compared to burning off a significant amount of calories through exercise. Making a few changes to your diet and lifestyle can help you lose weight safely and effectively without planned exercise.

Sugar . . . .none? I do my best to keep it to a minimum, and do not have any refined sugar in the house. Using less and less honey – and the fruit – well, I’m borderline on what would probably be considered “just the right amount” – (what-ever that is), but with the a.m. green drink – the berries and/or peach/banana – in my mind – moderate, just can’t go all green. Nuts….and here I thought the brazil nuts were good for selenium but maybe the oil/fat is the downside – Anyway, this is hard!
VAKSMAN VOLODYMYR/ShutterstockPeople who unwind every day with a glass red wine or juice made from red grapes burned more fat than they did without the drink, according to a study done by Oregon State University. The fat-loss effect is courtesy of the elegic acid in grapes, which “dramatically slowed the growth of existing fat cells and formation of new ones, and boosted metabolism of fatty acids in liver cells,” the research team reported. Best weight-loss prescription ever? Just make sure to have only one small glass per day. Red wine may also counteract the potential damage from a sedentary lifestyle.
By switching from a bowl of cold, dried cereal to one of hot whole-grain cereal and fruit, you’d take in approximately 100 fewer calories each day. That one simple change to your daily diet could help you drop about 10 pounds in one year. Plus, hot cereal has more “staying power.” It tends to fill you up better – and longer – than dried cereal.
Warongdech/ShutterstockOrdering a diet soda may seem like a good compromise between sticking to your diet and still having a beverage you love. But the artificial sweeteners used in most calorie-free drinks don’t lead to weight loss and can even cause weight gain, according to research published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism. The artificial chemicals interfere with important enzymes and hormones in your body, leading to increased waist size, they report. Here’s more on how diet soda causes weight gain.
I think everyone is unique and some snippet of my DNA makes me less efficient at burning fat. After living in my body 50plus years I see what works for me. Personally I don’t full sated when I eat fat. I just want to eat more. But a whole plate of steamed brocolli or cauliflower. Then I feel full.
