I’m 5’11” and 220 lbs and in my late 40’s. My goal when I do this diet is to drop to 190 lbs in 6 weeks of resolve. I’m happy with 190 to 200 lbs. But let’s say I started/was slimmer like 200 lbs, it would be harder to drop 17 lbs than when I’m at 220 lbs. The only thing I have modified to this diet is my red meat intake on day 5 and I eat only one 10 ounce steak on each day, because anymore doesn’t work for my metabolism and I lose less weight.
Also Im heavily swimming and doing some light lifting, and push ups. Will this diet along with Whey Protein be enough to help my body maintain itself under this strain? You brought up a good point. Economics can make it difficult for people to get healthy. Their geographic location and what’s available around them can have an effect. If people are in survival mode all the time, their mental energy can be weakened. Their are invisible negative psychic forces that effect people also.

Diets will not work in most people unless one one has removed processed foods anf / or fixed what is broken inside of their bodies. If you can’t lose weight by removing process foods, you may need to try detoxes, lugol’s iodine, supplements etc … basically experiment with different things to try to fix what is broken.

I don’t think that I would do very well with this diet. I prefer to eat the majority of my calories through bread, pasta and rice. I have about a 5.5% body fat, and weigh about 140-145 pounds most of the year. I do run a lot, as well as cross train a lot; any time that I stop workout out, I lose weight too fast and have trouble getting it back. I like the concept, though, and will certainly plan some meals around it.

FYI I have tried the HCG – couldn’t get past the first day on that, done the BFL diet, The Atkins, The Nutrisystem of which only the BFL worked for me in the past but I didnt keep it up because of a back surgery which prevented me from lifting the weights. Now I am desperate to rid this excess fat and weight and look normal again!

we need to be careful not to get caught by assuming “paleo” means something specific. Chris and a lot of the other paleo pundits have gone to great pains to explain that it is more an approach than a diet. It is helpful to view it as being a template for healthy living (see Mark Sisson’s primal blueprint as well as Chris’s work) and can be tailored within an enormous range to give a maximum shot at health taking into account a person’s philosophies, beliefs, priorities and individual makeup. Nobody is saying you can’t eat grains, just that they have been shown to be a problem for many people so a good starting point is to remove them and see how you go.
