Make sure that everything you’re eating is whole — as in nothing processed or packaged. Since salt is a preservative, these are the foods that are highest in sodium — something to keep in mind when planning your meals. Plan on making sure that all items you choose are fresh. That means filling up on fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, low-fat dairy, and lean protein.
I have not read it nor will I ever try to cut grains out of my diet. I like grains and they give me no problems. I’m not one to jump on every bandwagon that comes along just because it’s all the rage.

When did you start noticing the weight loss? I’m on day 3 tomorrow and I’m still at the same weight. I did fry mushrooms onion asparagus broccoli colliflower and peppers tonight, no butter just Braggs seasoning which is like a soy sauce but not… and of course the soup.. it definitely filled me up because I forgot to eat the potato. I’m curious if I should only be eating raw vegetables though.. I can get creative to make it easier but maybe it shouldn’t be easy to get the results I want?
I’m puzzled about “eating enough” vs. “intermittent fasting”. Since the advice to lose weight with Paleo is always to make sure you’re eating enough, yet on another front, experts say intermittent fasting is helpful for weight loss, how does your metabolism not slow down when you’re fasting versus just eating less when it’s the same thing? Definitely confusing.
I found that making simple but tasty Paleo food helps me stick to Paleo and I have lost 12 pounds but want to lose 5 more and can’t seem to lose the last 5. I’ve given up dairy already and find intermittent fasting too hard. I do chi gong to control stress but probably not enough. Will either try less carbs or more movement.
Allan I agree with Prioris’ comment. You may want to step away from the scale and go by measurements (particularly your waistline measurement) and how your clothes are fitting. I know its hard to do that but that number on the scale can fluctuate for so many different reasons. Another suggestion would be maybe not to try to do it all at once maybe take a couple of weeks and get your ‘diet’ down and then add in some exercise. Its possible that too much change too quickly through your metabolism hormones out of whack and they signaled your brain to store fat rather than use it for energy! Good luck!
Sweet Potato Chips dipped in Ketchup with a Kick – This snack provides the crunch of potato chips but provides fiber and antioxidants. The ketchup is optional but recommended in order to have a more satisfying snacking experience. Never forego anything that is allowed on the Paleo diet and will make for a better snack. Pernille, The same thing happened to me. The Paleo Diet simply wasn’t enough to address my condition completely, but what it did do for me was keep my symptoms from worsening. What I discovered is that in order to make the weight gain change (I was 105 lbs, and gained 50 in the space of a few short months) I had to focus on eating QUALITY meats, grass-fed and wild-caught, I ate no animals that ate corn and soy so no chicken, no pork, and no turkey, and I also added in increased amounts of fructooligosaccharides after going on a VLC version of the Paleo Diet (big mistake). What took me a few years to realize was that at the root of all of my diseases and symptoms, I had one glaring disorder that had gone unchecked: gut dysbiosis. What I did to resolve that finally you’ll never believe, but it was something called a fecal transplant. If you have rendered specific species of beneficial bacteria in your body extant, then no amount of eating a grain-free diet can bring them back to life. I had to resolve that. Then, eating nothing but wild-caught fish and orange juice took me the rest of the way. And from 105 to 155, where I stayed for three years unable to budge despite my calorie-deficit, VLC, animal protein only, zero fruits, zero nuts, etc. experiments, I finally got back down to 107.
