Victoria, in my opinion, it seems that you are consuming too few vegetables, and too much fat. Cut out some of that cream and milk, and add in at least a couple of cups of vegetables 3 times a day with your protein. Also, you could be drinking about 2-3 times as much water as you are, and this would probably help a lot too.

Trisha – I had planned on starting the Paleo diet this week, but I found something else that intrigued me. I’m trying “The Serotonin Power Diet”. I just started 3 days ago, so can’t speak to it’s value yet. But I have a hunch that these anti-depressants block the manufacturing of serotonin in the body, and this diet is supposed to kick it back into action. I haven’t been hungry on this diet, and may actually not be eating quite enough – need more vegetables… Here’s a link:

Eggs used for baking can be replaced by chia or flax seeds soaked in water. Just put a few days worth in the fridge and pull it out when you need it. For breakfast type recipes just sub out for any protein that works for you.

Open up a big bag of baby carrots and dip them into your freshly made no-oil-added, no-salt-added hummus. Simply whip up in your food processor a can of no-salt-added chickpeas/garbanzo beans, fresh tomatoes, lemon juice, garlic, a jalapeno pepper (if you like your hummus hot and spicy), and fresh herbs like cilantro and dill. Add a little water, if necessary, until the desired consistency is achieved.

I go to the gym at 5AM 3 times during the week and then I go on Saturday mornings at 9AM. I often drink a bottle of water during my workout, I will now try to take the ACV before I leave out in the morning and drink a bottle of water like I always do. But now I will extend it by taking it before lunch when I’m at work and before dinner when I get home. I normally don’t eat breakfast, but I will try to grab a fruit or piece of toast with two hard boiled eggs. I hope this works and I start to see results.

@RobinH- I’m combining them due to my difficulty in weight loss. Seth Roberts actually says things like he can counter the effects of eating chocolate by taking more oil later. I am not miserable, but I have been pretty darn miserable doing things like JennyCraig in the early 90s when people were dropping with gallbladder attacks. I, at least, had the sense to quit that diet when my hair fell out at an alarming rate.

Pass on the movies and screen the views of a local park instead. Not only will you sit less, but you’ll be saving calories because you won’t chow down on that bucket of popcorn. Other active ideas: a tennis match, a guided nature or city walk (check your local listings), a bike ride, bowling, and these sneaky workouts you can do while hanging out with friends.

I have been on Paleo for 6 days so far and have no problem following the diet. I’m 43yo male at 200lbs 5’10” and should be around 180 or so.Since I’ve started Ive had no movement in weight loss I feel good but thought that I would be seeing something by now. My wife also has the same issue. I use my fitness pal and take in 1600 cal a day and usually at 100-120 gm of carbs. Two fruits a day and a handful of nuts or tablespoon of nuttbutter(homemade) Everything else is chicken, beef , pork and veggies. Just curious if you have any suggestions?

When starting to practice Yoga take it slow and easy. Don’t force your body into the different postures all at once. If you do more than your body says it can do, you could hurt yourself. It started with a little weight gain and the glasses. Then, when I hit puberty my hormones were out of control. Personally I’m convinced that the word ‘diet’ means ‘way of living” and “regular (daily) work”, so if you decided to keep your diet you must keep your way of living. Losing extra pounds is a long and hard process and you don’t have to suffer while dieting. I agree somebody may like Paleo diet, but I’m not. So I follow simple rules the most important for me – drink a lot of water every day, eat healthy organic food and avoid fast-food. 2. If you have a lot of fat to lose (ie. >20% body fat) then I would recommend a “Cheat Meal” to start rather than a “Binge Day”. There’s a continuum from Cheat Meal to Binge Meal to Binge Day in how severely you break the diet’s rules. A Cheat Meal might be excessive but still quality carbs like potatoes or pasta while a Binge Meal will have both excessive and low-quality carbs like a Snickers bar or slice of cake. The greater the fat to lose then the less severe of a binge is appropriate.
