I also may become a speaker for Mark Sisson’s company, doing Primal Transformation Seminars. We’ll see how that pans out. It’s definitely something I’m interested in and willing to spend time on. It’s all about priorites. Some things are more important than others.

2) i was reading an earlier posts which stated that this diet may not work for people who are extremely overweight, which i am because i weigh 210lbs and am 5ft 11 inches. so should i continue the diet or not?

I would suggest a good gym and less low quality Eat more veggies, fruits in combination with lots of cardio and plenty of water. In 3 weeks you will get a different look and you do not need any special diet.

The right number of calories to eat each day is based on your age and physical activity level and whether you’re trying to gain, lose or maintain your weight. You could use your daily allotment of calories on a few high-calorie foods and beverages, but you probably wouldn’t get the nutrients your body needs to be healthy. HI Chris, I am a total newbie to the Paleo Diet, but I have been doing a lot of research and I am also an avid follower of your writings and posts. I am confused….I’ve read many times where the Paleo Diet avoids dairy, yet you are a proponent of butter, milk, cream, cheese, etc. I would like to gain a better understanding of dairy’s place in the Paleo Diet and what it’s benefits are in consuming it as YOU propose, vs. the Paleo’s who say avoid it. While a low-carbohydrate or low-fat diet can help you lose weight, the relative merits of each of these types of diet on the cardiovascular system are currently being studied. A few important things to remember:

  1. The causal relationship between diets and weight gain can also be tested by studying people with an external motivation to lose weight. Boxers and wrestlers who diet to qualify for their weight classes presumably have no particular genetic predisposition toward obesity. Yet a 2006 study found that elite athletes who competed for Finland in such weight-conscious sports were three times more likely to be obese by age 60 than their peers who competed in other sports.
    Paleo can get so confusing on one hand they say they do not encourage counting calories and then on the another they say yes count your calories. That’s part of the reason why I went on Paleo because I got so tired of counting calories with no results
    And if there’s something not-so-healthy you find that you just don’t miss very much? No one says you have to eat it again. Getting to know your body better is one of Whole30’s biggest benefits. So go ahead and reap those rewards.
    Fill up on fiber. You can get that from vegetables, whole grains, fruits — any plant food will have fiber. Some have more than others. Top sources include artichokes, green peas, broccoli, lentils, and lima beans. Among fruits, raspberries lead the list.
