Are you eating enough volume of food during breakfast? I eat breakfast at around 8:00 AM – lentils, mixed veggies, spinach and a protein supplement (pea protein) and sometimes I don’t feel hungry till late in the afternoon or early evening if I have to miss lunch…

[…] “This (carbohydrate) level is different for everyone based on age, activity level, health status, environmental factors and genetic inclination and can change over time, requiring experimentation and periodic re-evaluation,” she says. […]

Maybe this works better for the guy who is building up, rather than the girl who just wants to sleek down. Best wishes to you, Tim, and the others who give it a try, but I’m heading to Trader Vic’s for some crab puffs! Heavy on the puff!

I just ordered your book on Amazon. I eat Paleo and have lost quite a bit of weight over the last year. I used to run a lot, but I found training for my last half marathon was taxing and stalled my weight loss. I am leaning towards strength exercise and less cardio (shorter runs). I like the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution Program. I did it a few years ago. Do you think this program will help or hurt my continued weight loss, leaning out, efforts? It is 6 days a week, 30 minutes each, consisting of 4 strength workouts and 2 cardio workouts. I tend to be the kind of person who needs a regimented routine so having a program just helps. What do you think?

So which habits should you change if you want to lose weight without a diet? I asked Dr. Wansink which habit changes are likely to provide the best results. He said that it all depends on the individual.  “You should start by making changes in the place where you get the most reinforcement,” he says. For most people, that is inside the home.

Keep six single servings of protein in the refrigerator.  If you nibble on filling protein sources like string cheese, yogurt or cottage cheese, you may be less tempted to eat out or binge on less healthy snacks like chips or chocolate.

Have protein snacks available. I keep Cheddar cheese, cooked chicken cut into bite size pieces, hard boiled eggs, nuts (not that many of these though) celery with sugar free peanut butter. in my fridge ready to grab. Keep going you will get there.

I’ve been doing very well, but still feel the whole thing is very “loose”/informal. I’m not viewing this as a diet, but as a lifestyle- but I’d still like to have some order in my life and actually know which paleo foods I can and can’t be eating to start with. For example, I read nuts and some fruits were okay, but after consuming three granny smiths over the past week and several handfulls of nuts (cashews and almonds), I read it’s ideally best to leave these things (nuts and fruits) out for the first bit of the diet. Moderation is something I never knew in my previous life so restraining myself to just a few nuts is hard so it’s for that reason I’m thinking to them out altogether- with me it’s all or nothing.

Bread, cereal, pasta, fried food, rice, bagels, doughnuts, waffles, chips, tortillas, candy etc. – these things are all loaded with carbs (and if they’re processed – refined carbs and sugar), and I’ll bet a million Monopoly dollars they’re the cause of 99% of the population’s weight problem.

Contrary to popular belief, potatoes are a great food for helping you lose weight. It’s what we put on top of our potatoes – butter, cheese, and bacon bits – that turn them into waistline-busting foods.

Ph.375 is also over the counter appetite suppressant that curbs your hunger, which is quite challenging if you do it yourself. Consumption of fattening food or fast food can only lead to weight gain. It is indispensable to minimize your calorie intake to lose weight fast. Ph.375 is known for its appetite suppressing quality. It controls the cravings and makes you feel fuller. Due to the presence of L-carnitine, it has a complete control over your appetite. Artichoke leaf extract is also found in ph.375, which gives you the feeling of satiety.

You will lose weight if your calorie intake is less than your suggested calorie intake. So just say that, when your suggested intake is 2000 calories and you eat 1500, it will mean that you are going to lose some weight. Exercise only speeds up the weight loss process, but it isn’t necessary.

Hi, I’ve been having trouble finding info on my particular situation. I’m on week two of paleo and doing well keeping a balance of starch in my diet so far, but I’m exclusively breastfeeding my two month old son. Is there any advice or resources you could suggest for me? I mainly eat veg and meat, with nuts for extra fat and the occasional sweet potato when I feel like I’m lagging. Exercise is basically taking care of the farm with a baby strapped to my front.

When you’ve kicked the soda habit or simply made it through the day without overeating, pat yourself on the back. You’ve moved closer to a slimming lifestyle that helps people lose weight without crazy or complicated diet plans. Phone a friend, get a pedicure, buy new clothes — or on occasion, indulge in a small slice of cheesecake.

Heart-healthy diet tip: Avoid obvious suspects, such as bacon or sausage. And don’t buy presliced or plastic-wrapped lunch meats, he advises. Make sandwiches with leftover lean pork, chicken and beef instead.

I used to have a great figure without trying. But then I graduated (no more mandatory physical education), and moved out (no more Mom making me eat healthy. Now I’m getting a little squishy and I want to get back to the way I was. Maybe about 20 lbs. I’d be happy to lose even 10 lbs.

I tried ketosis once and it didn’t fit my body type. Here’s a blog post about my experiment with it and what a Paleo ketogenic diet might look like. According to my many commenters on my blog posts throughout my ketogenic experiment, I did it all wrong, but I tend to think that I would’ve died if I’d kept going. Just kidding, but I at least would’ve withered away to Skeletor status. Either way, my body didn’t like it, but yours very well may. If you’re exercising a lot, though, you’ll want to do a LOT of reading up on how to do ketosis properly.

Sounds great, but eating the same 3-4 meals cycle after cycle is going to get BORING! Also, what do you have to say about the idea that men’s metabolic rates generally allow them to lose weight faster/easier? Thanks.

Thanks Paula – let me know how everything goes. You might want to take a look at this article if you haven’t read it: https://paleoflourish.com/definitive-guide-to-the-paleo-autoimmune-protocol-aip/ It’s all about paleo autoimmune.

Changing the way you eat can change the way you look. So, if you want to shed some weight, you need to remove some of those tasty but fattening items from your diet. But healthy eating does not equal boring! Drive on the freeway. I know it sounds weird, but I was so anxious before that I couldn’t drive on the freeway without having panic attacks. When I went to PrimalCon, I actually drove down a day early to stay with Orleatha and Chris Smith, an amazing couple I met at PaleoFX. I had had a ride all lined up for the following day, but I decided to leave early and go all the way to LA by myself. As I was merging from one LA freeway to another, singing along to the radio and changing lanes, I realized I was like, “WHAT’S UP, LA?! WOTCHA GOT?! BRING IT ON!!!!” It was incredibly empowering.
