Danielle – you may be experiencing what they call the carb-flu its basically your body detoxing from the carbs and sugar that we are no longer eating. How long have you tried eating this way? Usually the carb-flu will last about a week or so but for some it can take a couple of weeks before you start feeling really good – hard to deal with but is so worth it once you get over that hump! Another suggestion would be upping your fat intake and make sure you are getting plenty of sleep. is showing more and more how very important the sleep aspect is for our health! Good luck I hope this helps!
Salsa is outstanding, especially chunky medium spice salsa with corn, beans, etc. I can’t stand egg whites by themselves, as it’s too boring even for me, but if you just add a few spoons of salsa on top, it’s a delicious little meal (just don’t put the salsa and lentils in the same bowl, as the mix is disgusting).
Beef and veggies, eat to your heart’s content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.
-Another possible cause of keeping the weight on is a food allergy that you are unaware of like eggs. Apparently, a lot of people are sensitive to eggs even though they are good for you and okay on the paleo diet. Since I discovered that I have this sensitivity, I eliminated eggs from my diet last March and the scale finally budged! If you are eating eggs, maybe try eliminating and see if this helps?
Eat non-starchy vegetables with every meal: Non-starchy vegetables are part of every weight-loss diet out there. Why? Because they’re naturally high in fiber and water and low in calories, meaning you feel fuller on fewer calories. They’re also packed with important vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.
AdaPia – Some people do better with having an actual breakfast, as opposed to just coffee. Your adrenals may not like doing that, which may be messing with your cortisol levels, which in turn can inhibit weight loss. I’d experiment with not drinking caffeine, or at least not as much. Or at the very least having some eggs and meat in the morning as opposed to coffee. Sometimes IF is just not right for people. It’s worth experimenting with. I’d just eat breakfast and watch your calories throughout the day (monitoring them with an online food journal).
Losing extra weight may help you look better, but more importantly, it can take pressure off painful joints and improve overall health. Research shows overweight people with arthritis who lose 10% of their weight have better mobility and 50% less pain. Try these small steps to drop excess pounds and get big health results.
“The diet is based on low glycaemic index foods. Carbohydrates with a lower glycaemic index appear to release energy into the body slower and, therefore, prevent rapid energy spikes followed by a dip in energy.
Hi Addy, I started eating Paleo about a month ago, and I feel so much healthier. Everything you said just about sums up exactly what I’ve been doing. I don’t feel deprived of anything. My mentality is that I am doing this to live longer. I have lost weight (8lbs) without trying. Sometimes I will get cravings for something sweet so I’ll make my favorite snack: an apple (sliced) sautéed in butter with cinnamon. Yummy!

You have to play with it, to find how your metabolism works, but, as I wrote in an earlier post, when I don’t eat on rising, I don’t develop my appetite until lunch time. I wonder, if you adapt to your first meal being at noon time, whether you could feel good. I know that eating first at noon wasn’t too hard; more just the feeling that I’m supposed to be eating or I’m cheating myself. It wasn’t hard to get past that. But that was me, and there is biochemical individuality, for sure.
Doing all these things will help you lose weight, but they still won’t get you the health benefits of regular exercise (which are impossible to overstate). Losing weight and improving your health are two completely different things: you can drop a lot of scale weight without ever seeing any health benefits, and you can improve your health dramatically without any change on the scale. But for the people who can’t exercise, for whatever reason, then yes: it is possible to lose weight without it.
Maybe 124 isyour “natural” healthy weight? I am finding that I lose weight much more slowly on this diet, but also my whole body composition has changed to be more muscular , and muscle weighs more than fat. Also I find that I put on a little weight naturally in winter, and I think this is normal & healthy as we need more padding to keep us warm. I am 16lbs overweight but feel the healthiest I’ve ever felt & I’m in great shape. I will continue on this diet and focus on my strength & health & happiness, numbers don’t mean as much as we think.counting cals is not in keeping with the philosophy of paleo for me
You can burn off the same number of calories (or more) as you would in a 1-hour aerobics class without ever setting foot in a gym or snapping on spandex. It’s so easy. In fact, you probably did it at one time.
If you eat raw veggies as your main source and walk 2 miles a day (Not as far as it sounds), you will lose 1 pound a day. For protein eat hard-boiled eggs, beans, and white chicken (Fish if you can afford it)
Plan and prep meals and snacks in advance: This diet can be hard to follow if you’re on the go or only have time for a quick bite. Having a Paleo-friendly meals and snacks at the ready will help you stick with it.
seriously……..4,000 calories worth of exercise per week? you’re kidding, right???? who has time to workout that much? i workout 4-5 days/week and that totals anywhere from 1800-2400 calories burned. i do a mix of bootcamp and crossfit, and it kicks my ass. i’m 5’4 and weigh about 140-145. i’m trying to get back down to 125-130 but i’m not going to kill myself by trying to burn that many calories a week. that’s insane!!!!!
I follow a strick paleo diet. However I have drank a little. Lately I have stopped drinking thrown my body back into detox but I still can’t loose my last 10 pounds I gained. Could it be paleo cooking? I bake quite a bit to keep sugar cravings down because I have a sugar handling disorder and I sometimes still get bad cravings. Help! I feel like I’m stalled.
Get very good at calorie counting and serving sizes. It’ll be tough to calculate everything in the beginning, but after a while it’ll seem like second-nature. Be religious about estimating how many calories are in a certain food or meal. Be accurate! Lying to yourself isn’t worth it if the only one you’re hurting is you.
If you’re trying to lose weight, as you probably do, a healthy person should consume at least 1,200 calories per day, regardless of what their diet is. If you eat 1,200 calories, you’ll have about 4,000 calories to burn a day to meet your goal.
I had to have all my favourites. Why, he asked? I explained that this is my only chance to eat this food and I HAD to have it all. Just like that a switch flipped in my mind. I realised I didn’t have to gorge every week. I didn’t have to pig out. I could just eat what I loved to a point that was comfortable. Immediately that panic monster was gone and since then, I’ve felt much more under control.
The Keto diet is a god-send. I’ve been on and off for a year, and it works! Eating increased fats (healthy, mind you) and reduced carbs –no beans even– can harbor roughly 5-8lbs per week lost. Stick with roughly 20g or less a day. My lifts have greatly increased, too. Anyone looking to lose fat fast MUST try this. After reading this, I plan to apply the lift methods listed to see if I can increase my overall LBM while still dropping BF.
