I’m in dire need to lose weight. I am currently at my heaviest at 5’4″, 175 lbs. i just wish to look my old self at 130lbs again. 🙁 i think my rapid weight gain is because of the preds im taking due to asthma i developed a couple of years ago.
Choose marinara sauce for pasta instead of Alfredo sauce. The tomato-based sauces tend to have fewer calories and much less fat than cream-based sauces. But remember, portion size still counts. A serving of pasta is one cup or roughly the size of a tennis ball.
I’m about to start the slow carb diet, as I have a good 20-25 lbs to loose. My question is post diet. Let’s say I loose the weight and decide to start eating carbs in a reasonable manner, will that be ok. People tell me dieting doesn’t work as all the lost pounds will be gained back. How can one prevent that?

HI Chris, I am a total newbie to the Paleo Diet, but I have been doing a lot of research and I am also an avid follower of your writings and posts. I am confused….I’ve read many times where the Paleo Diet avoids dairy, yet you are a proponent of butter, milk, cream, cheese, etc. I would like to gain a better understanding of dairy’s place in the Paleo Diet and what it’s benefits are in consuming it as YOU propose, vs. the Paleo’s who say avoid it. Thought I’d let you guys know, I started this diet on Monday and I’ve already lost close to 4lbs. I am 29 years old and I started this diet weighing in at 229, now I’m close to 225. I am very active, training for a muay thai kickboxing fight in Nov. where I have to be around 185 (my goal weight). I’m now 18 and 175lbs. I lost 22lbs in 2 months. Although “unhealthy” all I did was walk. In school I walked up and down the stairs with my best friend and after school I walked around the track talking to her. We never ran or jogged (we are both to self-conscious), only walked.

How can this work? Brian Wansink, PhD, says visual cues can trick us into consuming more or less. His tests at Cornell University found all kinds of people poured more into a short, wide glass — even experienced bartenders.
Participants assigned to the low-carbohydrate diet were told to maintain an intake of digestible carbohydrate – meaning total carbohydrate minus total fiber – of less than 40 grams daily. Those assigned to the low-fat diet were told to maintain less than 30 percent of their daily energy intake from fat, with less than 7 percent coming from saturated fat and 55 percent from carbohydrates. Neither diet included a specific calorie or energy goal. And the participants in each group were asked to avoid changing their physical activity levels during the study.
Everything you said is amazing but whats happening to me isn’t mentioned here. And my situation seems really weird. I’m doing the paleo and i go to the gym 4-5 times a week(weight lifting and cardio each time) and i lost 5 kg the first week which was mentioned up there and then 3 weeks have passed without any weight loss and on the 5th day of the 4th week i desided to make 3 cheat days before going detox (a coach at the gym said the solution was to go detox for a week) and on the third day’s (3rd day of cheating) morning i woke up with 2 kg gone. Just like this. (I go up on the scale each morning after hitting the bathroom, sorry for the extra info ). Can you please explain this to me and tell me what i should do… Thanks in advance…
Finally, such a restrictive diet takes the enjoyment out of eating. During the 3 days a week that you are following the plan, eating out or with others could be very tough. Also, boring diets are very hard to maintain. The temptation to overeat on the other 4 days of the week when you are not dieting will likely be high.
I am just in day 4 and don’t need much weight to lose, just wanna become healthy. Lost almost a kilo already and not craving for rice. Only downside is the shopping list and a bit costly. But you will have leftovers and can have it for the next day. Enjoying the yummy recipes 🙂

Crock Pot Pulled Pork – Pork never had it so good. It comes out super tender and ready to eat. Make as much as you can because having leftover pulled pork is not a problem. You can have pulled pork sandwiches, or just have some straight up when you start feeling hungry. The slow cooker has a knack for cooking pork until it’s just right, so this is one dish you and your loved ones will be glad to have again.
Day 3: You’re questioning yourself and your resolve to lose the weight with this diet. So, eat all the fruits (low calorie no bananas) and veggies you can along with at least 3 small bowls of soup. Tomorrow gets better. Leave the scale alone!
Day 6, beef and vegetables. Eat to your hearts content of beef and veggies. You can even have 2-3 steaks (grilled) if you like with leafy green vegetables. No baked potato. Be sure to eat soup at least once.

I have a question. My husband just started the Paleo diet. He is on this diet so he can lose weight. Besides having to lose weight he is also a diabetic. His Doctor told him for the first 2 weeks to eating only protein – nothing else. He has been eating lots of meat & eggs – nothing else, After the first two weeks he was told he could slowly start adding low carb fruits and vegetables. He is on third day and he is feeling like this will not work. He said by now something should show up in taking his blood sugar. He told me his numbers are higher now than before going on this. Does it take awhile for your body to adjust to this type of diet?
I see your point. Fortunately it is possible to enjoy food and still be healthy and slim. Takes just a little willpower to stop eating when it tastes best and start again when one gets really hungry, and not sooner 🙂 Well, maybe more than a little willpower 🙂
Eat lean protein. Go for beef that is 98% lean and only 2% fat. Go for chicken breast without the skin attached. Soy products like edamame or tofu are also high in protein, as are many types of fish, including salmon.

I have tried countless times to do the Paleo diet and I continue to fail. I blame this on the fact that I fail to do the first step which is to clean out the old and bring in the Paleo foods. After suffering with gastronomical issues I realize that this is probably the best diet out there in terms of digestive distress. Also, with my blood type being O they suggest limiting carbs, but it’s just so hard! Not counting calories while on a “diet is not easy to say the least for me which could be another reason why I find it so hard!
