Can a Paleo diet help you lose weight? Absolutely. While it does exclude certain foods with nutritional value, like dairy, whole grains, and legumes, this approach does promote eating whole, unprocessed foods that contain a balance of protein, fat, fiber, and quality carbohydrates, and it cuts out all refined grains and most added sugars.

Just the act of looking at the food will help you slow down and allow you to prioritize which ones you enjoy the most and which ones you don’t like as much. Planning out your meal will help you eat more mindfully.
It is quite difficult to lose 10 pounds in one week. Losing 10 pounds in three months would be a piece of cake, comparatively speaking. You would still have to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet though.
Positively stay away from fast food. In addition to cooking everything in trans fat, fast food burgers, fries, and shakes (or burritos, mac ‘n’ cheese, or sandwiches) are whoppers when it comes to salt and sugar. They are essentially empty carbs, with no real nutrients to them. If you’re serious about shedding those pounds and getting your weight back on the right path, you’ll stay away from fast food.
Calories obtained from fructose (found in sugary beverages such as soda and processed foods like doughnuts, muffins, and candy) are more likely to add to fat around your belly. Cutting back on sugary foods can mean a slimmer waistline as well as a lower risk of diabetes.

I started my journey just cutting carbs. I need to lose a lot of weight. Right now I need to lose 70 pounds to have knee surgery. My cousin recommended Paleo. I tried a modified version of it. The more I read and the more recipes I found here the less “modified” it became. When my doctor told me how proud he was of me yesterday I knew I’d made the right choice. I’m down 22 pounds. I’ve told my mom we are not on a diet it is a lifestyle change. She eats what I fix which is helping her with her weight. I feel better physically and mentally. The great thing is I’ve found recipes I can make and take to school with me including the energy bars. By talking about it on FB and at my physical therapy class, I’ve managed to get 2 other people to try out So glad I found this.
A piece of saltine cracker contains 13 calories. So just try to use the substitute with the same number of calories. Rice cake is your best bet for this purpose. Other close substitutes are plain toast and whole grain cereal. But, be sure about the calorie count.
Hi, I’ve been having trouble finding info on my particular situation. I’m on week two of paleo and doing well keeping a balance of starch in my diet so far, but I’m exclusively breastfeeding my two month old son. Is there any advice or resources you could suggest for me? I mainly eat veg and meat, with nuts for extra fat and the occasional sweet potato when I feel like I’m lagging. Exercise is basically taking care of the farm with a baby strapped to my front.
You figured you were on an easy peasy downhill ride to your optimal size. So you kept doing what you did the first week, but after the 2nd or 3rd week, the weight stopped coming off. And now you’re stuck right where you were at week 3. Maybe you’ve even gained some weight.
Here’s a hard truth: it’s not gonna happen! Most good things happen when you’re patient, and weight loss is a prime example. You have to work for it, and you have to wait for it. So, wait! Some people see instant results within a week or two with a huge drop-off then they plateau. This is normal! The body drops a lot of water when you give up refined carbohydrates and processed foods.
You most certainly can! All you have to do is eat enough food. Make sure you’re eating enough fat from healthy sources such as coconut oil, avocado oil and olive oil as well as nuts and seeds. Eat plenty of high quality protein and enough starchy carbs such as potatoes, plantains, winter squash and parsnips, to maintain your weight. I’ve finally hit phase three of the Metabolic Balance diet, which is not that different from phase two apart from now I have a bigger list of food to choose from. It’s like Christmas! I’m free to add oil, broccoli, asparagus and pork to my repertoire and I’m allowed one “cheat” meal once a week of whatever food I want. Seriously, it’s crazy how satisfying a tablespoon of oil can be.
What does your paleo diet look like? If it has been molded to look like cheese cake, tacos made out of bacon, pancakes made out of almond flour, yeah, guess what, you have made it too tasty and calorie-dense and you are probably not going to be dropping any weight, especially if weight loss is hard for you like it is for me. If it looks like voluminous salads, bone broths, reasonable servings of meats balanced with plenty of vegetables, and berries and no more than a handful of nuts per day and maybe a square of dark chocolate for a treat, and if you tolerate them, some PLAIN potatoes or sweet potatoes, then you have a fighting chance.
