Yes, Whole30 encourages you to reintroduce off-limits foods. But the purpose of an elimination diet is to discover which foods do and don’t work for you. Add everything back in at once, and you won’t be able to tell which ingredient is causing the problem. Plus, after 30 days of squeaky-clean eating, gorging on junk will probably leave you feeling pretty crummy.
I really need to change my eating habits the problem I won’t eat 95% of the food on this list. I don’t eat a lot of veggies and I don’t eat fish at all. I’m not sure there is a diet that would really work for me. This diet sounds like it helps with pain and inflammation which 8 have a lot of. Do you have any recommendations as to how I can find foods that I will eat that will help?
Diet diary: I was naughty in New York so as punishment I’ve decided to start from the beginning of the diet. Let the fasting begin again! So I had a day of eating nothing but a handful of veggies. Whilst it was nothing like the withdrawal that experienced when I first started the plan, it was still tough. But I knew I had to do it in order to get rid of that horrible sugar addiction.
You also have to do your best to move your body more. That can mean taking the stairs instead of the elevator or even working extra hard at physical therapy. Do as much as you can, follow the other 3 steps and you will see the weight melt off.
Try interval training. Interval training is where you do really intense activity for only a short period of time, and then moderate or light intensity work for the majority of the time. Still determined to do the buffet? Sit in a booth that faces away from the buffet, as that will make getting seconds and thirds a lot less tempting, the researchers add.
New to Paleo and loving all your comments and help, I have dropped 1kg in just over 2 weeks, still having my glass of red wine! I cut out bread and all grains and my beloved dairy (all except fetta, got to have that in my salad!) and have started walking a bit more regularly. I am a young 56 (looks so old when I see it in writing!), with the menopausal waist line, but not exceedingly overweight. For me it will be a 90/10 journey and I have found that keeping it simple, (after I had many purchased e-books) is the way to go. I said simple, not boring, I still try and minimise my animal fats and have reduced carbs. I alternate by breakfast, nuts and seeds with almond milk one day and then a ‘purple smoothie’ on another. Love salads with olive oil and balsamic dressing, salmon and lean meats. I do snack on nuts if I get the urge, almonds, and not more than 10 and the really important thing……drink plenty of filtered water! I think only one person has mentioned hydration. You must keep your water intake up to help your body flush everything out, I have found this to be so important. Sometimes when you think you are hungry you are actually thirsty! I am happy with the way things are progressing and actually feel like I am doing my body a favour 🙂
I do not recommend eating whatever you want or cheating once a week. I myself did this and eventually I feel off my diet and gained my weight back. Now I do what is called a “refeed,” instead of cheating and I do it every 2 weeks. I will continue doing this until my body fat levels are lower. Once they are lower, I will refeed more often.
Lunch on Day 2, for instance, is nothing but a cup of cottage cheese and some saltine crackers. Sauces, dressings, and even spices are off the list. If you have a sweet tooth, though, you’ll be happy to find vanilla ice cream on the menu each day.

The weight came off pretty rapidly, about 2 pounds a week until my reached the mid 150s. In the past several months it is pretty stable — it doesn’t shift a lot whether I exercise or not. If one doesn’t eat meat, and can’t handle grains, legumes, starches, eggs, dairy, lots of nuts and seeds, and sugars, the only thing that remains is veggies, fats, and maybe some low glycemic fruits. That is a starvation diet. Many of us have gut problems and food intolerances made worse by years of grain and sugar eating. I have found that adding meat back into my diet to be a profound relief and has enabled me to rebuild my gut so that I can now add various foods back in and safely handle them again. I have found grass fed meats to be very beneficial, healing (particularly bone broth) and strengthening. Of course I don’t recommend the meat, dairy and eggs of grain-fed, inhumanely raised, sickly animals. But there are options. One size does not fit all. At some point you too may just be burdened by fatigue, hormonal dysfunction, allergies, gut problems, auto-immune disease, etc., and find that you feel better after eating meat. Many, many former vegetarians and vegans have discovered this, just so you know for the future (and the present!!!).

I started paleo 3 weeks ago, high fat, low carb, moderate protein. In these 3 weeks I have lost and gained the same 5 lbs and today weigh what I weighed 3 weeks ago. I have had my thyroid checked as well as a basic blood panel and everything was normal. I suspect the high fat is the culprit. The reason Is because about 6 months ago I tried the Dukan diet which is basically low fat, all meat. I lost about 30lbs in 5 weeks. (Which I gained back after going back to junk food)

Every diet guru raves on about how their diet keeps one from getting hungry. Being hungry is not the issue. for most of us, emtional eating is the issue. it has nothing to do with hunger and changing up what you eat has no effect on it. It is an emotional issue that cannot be treated with dietary change. For those of us who use food to satisfy our emotional needs, diet alone is not the answer.
Case in point: my wife has a nutrition and weight loss clinic. Completely natural, with its basis in a grain-free, sugar-free, low carb diet (thank you Davis and Perlmutter). Not freaky low carb, just smart. Everyone, and I mean everyone, loses weight and keeps it off. Everyone feels better. This isn’t “most” of her clientele, this is 100%.
-Another possible cause of keeping the weight on is a food allergy that you are unaware of like eggs. Apparently, a lot of people are sensitive to eggs even though they are good for you and okay on the paleo diet. Since I discovered that I have this sensitivity, I eliminated eggs from my diet last March and the scale finally budged! If you are eating eggs, maybe try eliminating and see if this helps?
