1. Canned foods are absolutely fine. No problem. All of my vegetables are either frozen (80%) or canned (20%). I’m a huge fan of canned tuna in water mixed with lentils and chopped onions. If you’re trying to gain muscular weight, just add durum-based macaroni to that and you’ll be set.
And yeah, counting calories–actually monitoring everything you can about what you’re putting into your body and how your body responds–is a *really* good idea! (But psst! “fewer” calories. 😉 They are notoriuosly counted, after all.)
The three main sources of calories are fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Sources of unhealthy saturated fats are butter, cheese and fatty cuts of meats; whereas sources of healthy unsaturated fats are nuts, vegetable oils, olives and seafood. Just like healthy and unhealthy fats, there are healthy and unhealthy carbs as well.
Breastfeeding made my body hold on to pregnancy weigh until my son was done nursing. He nursed for one year, and once he weaned himself, I started dropping weight like crazy. I gained ~60lbs during my pregnancy, lost 10-15lbs after the birth, and lost the rest after my son stopped nursing. Ironically, I was much less hungry and ate less whilst nursing than I did during the pregnancy, but still retained the weight. I think my body reacted to the lactation hormones in such a way that it was near-impossible to lose the weight until after I was done lactating. It took me about a year and a half to get back down to my normal weight of 115-120lbs.
I am still persisting in taking PhenBlue now. I feel nauseated when using PhenBlue, but I have lost 12 pounds in a month. Although the result is not really perfect, PhenBlue makes me more confident with my body.

I started paleo 3 weeks ago, high fat, low carb, moderate protein. In these 3 weeks I have lost and gained the same 5 lbs and today weigh what I weighed 3 weeks ago. I have had my thyroid checked as well as a basic blood panel and everything was normal. I suspect the high fat is the culprit. The reason Is because about 6 months ago I tried the Dukan diet which is basically low fat, all meat. I lost about 30lbs in 5 weeks. (Which I gained back after going back to junk food)
Balsamic Roasted Cauliflower – Cauliflower never so good! The tangy balsamic vinegar softens the cauliflower up nice while loading it up with flavor. Roasting vegetables gives them a new flavor dynamic and if there’s a particular vegetable that you’re not very fond of, try roasting it before making up your mind completely.
If you eat canned veggies try to cut back on your sodium they are high in sodium and you will get too much. I had to start buying no salt added green beans – you can add Mrs. Dash to them and they taste better!
Joana Lopes/ShutterstockDim, sultry lighting may be ideal for a romantic dinner—there’s nothing more flattering than candlelight!—but if you’re watching your waistline you’re going to want to brighten the place up, according to a study published in the Journal of Marketing Research. However, there are contrasting theories for these findings. Some researchers argue the results are simply due to a higher protein intake, and others think there is a distinct “metabolic advantage” to ketogenic diets (23, 24).

On the other hand, if you live a more sedentary life, you might want to cut back a bit. In short, carbs are FUEL and your body only needs so much of it. It might want to “hold on” to that extra fuel if you’re not using it up in the gym or on the trail. More activity = more carbs and vice versa.
