Daisy Daisy/ShutterstockOur climate-controlled homes may be one factor in the obesity epidemic, according to a study published in the journal Cell. The scientists found that regular exposure to mildly cold weather—as would have been normal in the days before programmable thermostats—helps the human body regulate a healthy weight. Chilly air may increase your metabolism by forcing your body to work harder to cope with the changing conditions. And you don’t have to do a polar plunge or sleep in a snow cave to see results, say the researchers. Just lowering your thermostat by a few degrees or turning the shower briefly to cold can help. Here are other scientifically proven ways to boost your metabolism.
Getting rid of processed foods and bringing more vegetables into our diet is great for weight loss and disease prevention. But nutritionist Julie Upton, who works with CrossFit athletes who follow Paleo said that many Paleo dieters don’t pay much attention to vegetables.
Dinner is usually a bit smaller than lunch, since my lunch is substantial. But still, dinner is some kind of protein and veggies- either a cooked vegetable or large salad. Again, I get very full. I’ll use avocado, coconut oil, fermented butter (I live in Germany and traditionally they’re not shy about fat options), yogurt, sour cream, raw cheese and the like so I ensure I get enough fat. You already know that a perfect diet doesn’t exist, but many of us still can’t resist the urge to kick ourselves when we indulge, eat too much, or get thrown off course from restrictive diets. The problem: This only makes it more difficult, stressful, and downright impossible to lose weight. So rather than beating yourself up for eating foods you think you shouldn’t, let it go. Treating yourself to about 200 calories worth of deliciousness each day — something that feels indulgent to you — can help you stay on track for the long-haul, so allow yourself to eat, breathe, and indulge. Food should be joyful, not agonizing!
And yeah, counting calories–actually monitoring everything you can about what you’re putting into your body and how your body responds–is a *really* good idea! (But psst! “fewer” calories. 😉 They are notoriuosly counted, after all.)
The Paleo diet is rich in nutrients and plenty of variety, so you don’t ever have to be bored or hungry! While it does take some getting used to, with the right tools, you’ll be a Paleo pro in no time.

I recommend that you try either approach for two-three weeks and see how you feel. If you do not like it, then the other macronutrient may be better for you!
The Highs: All my blood tests show I am 100 pre cent healthy. I broke down crying in Petronella’s office and I think part of it was down to the confirmation that I am not crazy: I knew something was wrong with my ballooning weight and her slip of paper was the proof.
“Following a cardiac diet can help you lose weight, lower your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels,” says Kelly. “It can even boost your energy because of your healthier food choices.” Results vary from person to person, explains Dr. Lichtenstein, since they depend on a variety of factors, including what you were eating before you went on a cardiac diet, your lifestyle choices (exercise and smoking) and other risk factors.

But I hate weighing 220 lbs even more, so that’s my motivation. And I love reaching my goal of 190 lbs just before the summer. But that’s me and whatever each one of us has for motivation, we probably have the same reasons and goals.
I have lost so far 13.5kgs or 30 pounds in just 7 weeks, the last few weeks I have been fasting all day long with a coffee or 2 in the morning to midday and eating quite a large dinner with 250 to 300 grams of fatty protein and a load of broccoli and cauliflower and some days I add peas to that or spinach.
