I have been reading about slow-carb, and it says to avoid white-bread and refined cereals. The only cereal I eat is organic health cereal, ‘wheat squares’ and ‘bran’, and the only bread I eat is whole grain wheat.

I also think it’s more beneficial to track body composition instead of weight on the scale. Eating a high protein diet like paleo makes it easier for your body to create muscle. So while you’re losing fat and excess water from reducing inflammation, you could be gaining dense muscle which makes it look like you’re not losing enough weight. Even if you’re not really increasing your exercise, your body might have a tenancy to pack on muscle when given the right building blocks.

I have read this before and I am glad that it was confirmed here. I have two small children and live above cranky neighbors, so I can’t get on my treadmill. Unless, I want to risk hearing complaints from them or the main office. The only choice that I have to lose weight is to simply count calories.

Eating lower-calorie foods and smaller quantities of them are vital to losing weight. But the additional calories that exercise helps you burn make it easier to be on the right side of the calorie equation.

Using less and less honey – and the fruit – well, I’m borderline on what would probably be considered “just the right amount” – (what-ever that is), but with the a.m. green drink – the berries and/or peach/banana – in my mind – moderate, just can’t go all green. I just ordered your book on Amazon. I eat Paleo and have lost quite a bit of weight over the last year. I used to run a lot, but I found training for my last half marathon was taxing and stalled my weight loss. I am leaning towards strength exercise and less cardio (shorter runs). I like the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution Program. I did it a few years ago. Do you think this program will help or hurt my continued weight loss, leaning out, efforts? It is 6 days a week, 30 minutes each, consisting of 4 strength workouts and 2 cardio workouts. I tend to be the kind of person who needs a regimented routine so having a program just helps. What do you think?

Don’t be afraid to modify: If you’ve struggled with restrictive diets in the past, a modified version of Paleo may be your best bet. Aim to include some whole grains and beans in your meals on occasion, or plan a couple of non-Paleo meals.

I do have treat meals, I find with socialising usually comes food and drink, so it’s almost impossible to avoid 100% of the time, and it’s also a good excuse for me to satisfy those cravings! So I usually have one treat meal every OTHER weekend, and when I say treat meal, I go all out – pizza or burgers followed by chocolate and a can of coke. The great thing about this, is that I feel uncomfortable for the rest of the night and the day after(and possibly the day after that) so it makes it very easy not to give in for another 2 weeks! However, when I do have a treat meal I will make sure I have a big work out in the gym the next day and sweat out all the crap! I will also mention that I don’t have ANY other treats, not a tiny piece of chocolate, or even a pasta shell because those little treats may have a big impact and really it isn’t worth the risk!

I have been doing the low carb lifestyle for serveral years now, I cannot seem to lose weight, I am post menopausal, I am insulin resistant, I use around 30grams a day, I am a carb addict, I just dont know what else to do.
