Stress is unavoidable in our society. But there are still things that all of us can do to decrease the stressors that we have control over. I understand what you are saying about the difficulty in finding time to devote to a yoga or meditation practice. But what about taking *some* time in your day, even if it is only 5 or 10 minutes, to be alone and do something that you truly enjoy doing? It might be reading book, taking a short walk, or just staring at the wall and clearing your mind. Learning to breathe properly and doing a few breathing exercises throughout the day can also be helpful in reducing stress and anxiety. No matter how busy you are, it is really important that you prioritize a small amount of time each day for yourself. Give yourself the permission to do this for your health. If you have a support person that can help you at home while you take this 5 or 10 minutes, that’s great. If not, do it before bed or just after you wake up in the morning. Being overweight certainly is a type of physiological stress on the body, as it does disrupt hormonal balance in the body. Beyond that though, being overweight can also cause psychological stress because you feel uncomfortable in your own skin.

A calorie isn’t always a calorie. Eating 100 calories of high fructose corn syrup, for example, can have a different effect on your body than eating 100 calories of broccoli. The trick for sustained weight loss is to ditch the foods that are packed with calories but don’t make you feel full (like candy) and replace them with foods that fill you up without being loaded with calories (like vegetables).

It did require discipline at the beginning, and it is more expensive and more time consuming, but I’ve always cooked anyway (I’m French, after all!) and my efforts are repaid ten-fold in improvements in my health. I have discovered butternut squash this week. I don’t know where this little gem has been hiding my whole life, but it’s absolutely divine. I’ve been eating it almost single day, just cubed and roasted in a little bit of olive oil.

I would think that any non-starchy vegetable would be ok. I think Tim’s point is that his diet is a no-brainer. He probably has almost the same exact grocery list from week to week. You’ve got the gist, though.

Bread, cereal, pasta, fried food, rice, bagels, doughnuts, waffles, chips, tortillas, candy etc. – these things are all loaded with carbs (and if they’re processed – refined carbs and sugar), and I’ll bet a million Monopoly dollars they’re the cause of 99% of the population’s weight problem.

So start with good information: you need to know how many calories you should eat each day for your individual level of activity, and then you’ll need to find ways to stay within your limits. To lose weight, you must use up more calories than you take in. Hi! I have been on the paleo diet for almost a month now! I feel amazing! I do not have cravings. I really think it is a lifestyle change for me and one that I will keep! I am 57 years old and exercise 6 days a week. I swim 3 days a week and practice Bikram (Hot Yoga) 3 days a week. I feel fine when I am swimming but am not doing well in Yoga. Bikram is not new for me, I have been practicing for 7 years.

Great article! I started the paleo diet a couple months back, in the second month I have lost 3lbs on the second week then on the 4th week gained it all back. After that I stopped and I used http://healthyfitnatural.com/3-day-military-diet/ which help me to lose this 3lbs but I heard that it shouldn’t be used very often since it is not good for overall health? Is that true, can someone help me with this… I know that I am not “good paleo diet girl” so what should I do from now on?

I’m a 5’3″ woman who was already close to my ‘goal’ weight before deciding to experiment with this method… and I lost 5 pounds on my first week. Holy shit, right?! I was pretty psyched, but 3 days after cheat day I’m crazy bloated (nowhere near my period) and up 2 pounds (for a total loss of 3).

The the sugar in the paleo diet doesnt matter if you keep it under control. Just know what your macros are in the foods your eating and you can keep the sugars. Anything in excess will cause weight gain. Like tje articles says, even excess healthy food will make you gain weight.
