Of course, as the years went on, I found that Paleo was great for way more than just weight loss, but since so many people want to know the secret of losing weight, I thought I’d share my 5 tips for losing weight on a Paleo diet in this article.
Same here excercise wise. None yet and 20 lbs already. I am required to sweat by way of a sauna, whirl pool, or really hot bath, anywhere from 15 to 30min to rid the body of toxins and burn fat and excess water. Also, I drink a gallon plus water each day. So necessary for weight loss.

I have always been what most would consider a “big girl”. In January 2016, I weighed 222 lbs (around 95 kilograms), which is quite overweight for a woman my height. I wasn’t always this weight though. In my teenage years, I weighed only 140 pounds and I felt much healthier and happier.
So as tedious as this one step might seem, it is an important step for both weight loss and maintenance later on and it holds everything together. Having a meal plan helps you manage plateaus while keeping you motivated. In the long run you’ve studied for your new healthy lifestyle and for your new figure. My two cents worth is to look behind the labels at the totality of the ideas. Chris along with Taubes, Bailor, Wolf, Sisson, Masterjohn, Noakes etc., etc., are all very sophisticated in their treatment of health with a paleo “template.” Not only do they deal with nutrition, they also deal with lifestyle choices, general health and well being and more.
This all looks super delish! However, can anyone advise me on how easy this is to keep up whilst working full time? And how expensive? I love this kind of food, and think it really helps when you mix that with regular workouts. However I work 12 hour shifts. On my 4 days off, I can prep and be super motivated! But when I am on shift, sometimes I just don’t have the time, or the money! Help!

I’m a 53 year old female, walking disabled (pain disease with 2medical implant and on crutches/walker) I’m 5’6 and right now weigh 155.4lbs…I need to lose at least 20-25lbs as fast as possible, especially tummy/hips and tone my body..can you please help me???
As far as exercising is concerned, you don’t need to hit the gym to lose weight. Start by turning off the TV and dusting around the house a little. You can then try and take the stairs instead of the lift and if you feel up to it, start walking to the nearest market for your minor shopping needs. Drop that car key, grab your mp3 player and walk.
I can’t really provide many suggestions without knowing what your daily intake of food looks like. It’s actually possible that you are under-eating and your body is holding on to the weight as a result. I know it sounds counter intuitive but that can often be the case. Otherwise, this could really be due to either your hormones or gut health, or both. I would really recommend seeing a functional medicine practitioner or naturopath and get some hormone testing done. THis is the most important and difficult question to answer and it concerns me that an ‘expert’ doesn’t address this in detail. Be VERY careful with this diet and remember as soon as you return to normal eating habits you will gain all back and more. Be smart, choose a diet you can maintain for life and that won’t screw with your hormones.

Exercise provides many more positive health benefits than just weight loss alone. Yes, even more than giving you “hot, sexy, toned arms and legs” and a “defined, chiseled, sculpted chest and abs.” Exercise is the complete opposite of a bad thing. Got that? Good.)

Great article, Katy–I especially love the last point. We live in a weight loss culture that exists primarily on the premise of unrealistic goals: cleanses, fasts, pills, miracle cures, etc, all intended to help us “get out bikini bodies” in 7 days or less. But real weight loss–or any type of body composition change–is a process. But if you’re taking the right steps (i.e. 1-4), eating real food, and ENJOYING the benefits, even if you’re not “there” yet (wherever “there” may be), then you’re on the right track.
My child has gained weight ( good thing as she is tiny ectomorph), husband has lost significant weight ( not needed and now his sister is worried about this diet) and I haven’t lost a pound ( need to lose excessive weight).
No, Taubes and Bailor have definitely not refuted the considerable amount of hard data showing that we are, in fact, eating more. Whether that is the cause of the obesity epidemic is a subject for debate, because correlation never equals causation. However, based on my review of the evidence, I believe it is the predominant factor (among others, including changes to the gut microbiome).
That was about 15 years ago and umteen diets later I still can’t loose that weight. Had some success with extreme diets that had me weak and fainting, but other diets that used to work like Weight Watchers, Atkins, low glycemic, you name it have little to. I impact.
